Responsible To: Director, Facilities & Transportation Job Summary: A Skilled Maintenance Technician is a versatile professional responsible for performing a wide range of general maintenance and repair tasks (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting), grounds keeping (landscaping, snow removal), and custodial duties (cleaning, sweeping, mopping, sanitizing restrooms, trash removal) across multiple commercial buildings and campuses. Ensuring facility safety, cleanliness, and functionality through proactive maintenance and prompt response to work orders, often using various hand/power tools and managing supply inventory, this role requires a diverse skill set, problem-solving abilities, physical stamina, and strong communication skills. Qualifications: Education: A high school diploma or GED is standard. Technical School training and trade certifications a plus. Experience: Proven Experience (3-5+ years) of facilities maintenance experience, general contracting, or skilled trade labor. Technical Knowledge: Strong proficiency in using a wide variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively, along with a solid understanding of building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing).Problem-Solving Abilities: The ability to diagnose problems efficiently, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions with attention to detail.Soft Skills: Excellent communication, time management, organizational, and customer service skills.Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver's license and clean driving record are often required for Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA safety training, trade-specific licenses) are a plus. Licensing Requirements: Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s LicenseMissouri Department of Health & Senior Services Medical Examination Report for Caregivers and Staff must meet acceptable standards from the State of Missouri, completed within 30 days of hire.TB Risk Assessment and Examination completed within 30 days of hire.Annual results of Family Care Safety Registry background screening must be deemed acceptable by the State of Missouri.Annual results of Nationwide background screening must meet barrier crimes standards for organizational membership with Boys & Girls Clubs or America.Site Coordinator ensures that all staff, including self, meet qualifications and ongoing training requirements per state licensing regulations. Physical Requirements: Able to lift, carry, push, pull, or roll up to 50 pounds.Capable of prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, or crouching, climbing ladders, and lift heavy objects for extended periods.Capable of navigating travel, transporting supplies, and completing tasks at different sites and diverse locations on the property within a single day.The employee may be subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. Inside weather conditions provides protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes and outside environmental conditions provides no effective protection from weather.The employee may be required to work in tight spaces, crawl spaces, maintenance access points, or at heights on ladders.Local travel, regional, as well as some out of state travel is required in performance of duties. Emotional/ Mental Demands of Work: Routine reporting, internal and external deadlines; variance in work volume.Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.Understands business implications of decisions; may handle emergency or crisis situations.Manages the distraction of many interruptions without losing concentration or unduly disrupting progress. Some evening and weekend work is required; may be subject to responding to emergency calls outside of regular hoursKeeps current with best practices, resources, and materials.Voicemail and e-mail are checked daily. Attends all meetings and events and notifies appropriate staff prior to missing a meeting/event and follows up to get important information. Essential Responsibilities: Maintenance and Custodial General Repairs: Perform a variety of repairs on an as-needed basis, including wall damage (drywall patch and repair), broke windows, minor electrical, plumbing (leaks, clogs, fixtures), carpentry (drywall, furniture), painting (filling gaps, touching up), and appliance/equipment fixes, install and repair drop ceilings, replace tiles, replace filters, etc.Custodial Tasks: Sweep, mop, vacuum, clean restrooms, empty trash, dust, and maintain cleanliness of buildings and grounds.Grounds keeping: Mow grass, trim hedges, remove snow/ice, and keep walkways clear, etc.Preventative Maintenance: Conduct building walk-throughs, inspect equipment, identify issues, and report needs for major repairs, etc.Support: Assist with event setup/breakdown, manage maintenance supply inventory, and help external contractors, etc.Carpentry: Perform basic carpentry work, including building or repairing shelves, cabinets, decks, fences, and repair doors, door hardware, locks, hinges, panic hardware, etc., lay floor tile, replace carpet squares, etc.Painting and Wall Repair: Prepare and paint interior and exterior surfaces, prepare surfaces for painting including minor repairs, patch plaster, drywall and fill gaps or crevices on walls, replace trim, etc.Inspections and Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of premises and equipment to identify potential issues, perform routine maintenance (e.g., lubricating moving parts), and report needs for major repairs to management, etc.Grounds Maintenance: Perform basic landscaping duties, including mowing lawns, trimming hedges, and maintaining the cleanliness of exterior areas like parking lots and sidewalks, etc.Make minor repairs to tools, keep tools clean and in good condition for next project.Prepare site with proper tools and materials and make sure site is in clean and safe condition when finished.Transport materials and equipment to job site or arrange for transportation of heavy or bulky items.Use power tools safely and proficiently.Prepare surfaces for painting including minor repairs, patch plaster and drywall. Project Management Understands elements and scope of projects (money, time, people, impact, etc.) and communicates to team members involved.Tracks progress and ensures timely completion within allotted budget to satisfy requirements. Deadlines are consistently met.Works with team and supervisor to ensure consistently meet goals by Vice President, Operations and President.Documentation and Communication: Maintain detailed records of work performed, materials used, and communicate proactively and professionally with clients, tenants, or supervisors regarding project status and recommendations. Estimate time and materials for various projects.Work independently with minimum supervision. Safety Institutes policies and practices that provide a healthy and safe environment; ensure facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained and promptly report any problems to supervisor. Maintains and keeps inventory of all supplies, tools, equipment, and Club resources ensuring they are replenished and stocked.Appropriately reports any concerns, potential safety hazards or equipment concerns to prevent harm or disruption to operations.Consistently enforces and abides by Club safety rules. Compliance Accountable for compliance with all federal and state laws, licensing, grants, and/or contracts, as well as, company specific policies and procedures to ensure Clubs successfully and consistently operate in compliance with BGCA & licensing regulations.Plays active role in passing inspections and maintaining licensing standards. Leadership Support the day to day operations, assuring good customer service, communication & coordination with staff members.Works cooperatives with other staff, vendors and departments to complete projects. Prior computer/PC experience using other word processing, spreadsheets, and database management systems is preferred. Microsoft Office programs a plus.
