Job Description

The Facilities Engineer/Specialist evaluates and comments on discipline engineering work performed both internally and by contractors to ensure that work is being executed in accordance with specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements. This role facilitates effective execution of discipline engineering and design routines that align with the team's goals, objectives, and procedures. The position assures accurate and timely communication among the team and other functions on discipline engineering activities, progress, and issues. In addition to technical ability, candidates should demonstrate sound communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

This position functions as an Area engineer for operations for a specific plant area, working in a team with other Facilities engineers, Site Contact & Lead Engineers to support assigned operations areas.

Responsibilities

Level II responsibilities:

  • Serve as Area engineer for operations for a specific plant area
  • Work in a team with other Facilities engineers, Site Contact & Lead Engineers to support assigned operations area and gain knowledge/exposure to other areas of plant
  • Conduct monthly Facilities Surveillance of area driven KPIs
  • Provide operations support for changes, repairs, and alterations of all plant pressure equipment (including piping, static equipment, rotating equipment, tanks, etc.)
  • Provide shutdown engineering support
  • Implement capital budget for water infrastructure
  • Support project execution activities
  • Provide PSSR support through commissioning

Level III additional responsibilities:

  • Participate in area Risk Assessments, HAZOPs, Hazard Hunts, and Critical Operating Parameter Reviews
  • Lead incident investigations (downtime, process safety related)
  • Support opportunity management including identification of opportunities and development of scope of work for projects
  • Conduct risk assessments on new facility projects, existing facilities, and closure of mitigating action items
  • Lead performance testing and plant based trials
  • Develop operating guidelines for facilities
  • Provide coaching and mentoring of fellow and junior colleagues

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering specialty, or equivalent professional experience
  • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Extensive knowledge of discipline design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria
  • Project execution experience
  • Troubleshooting experience
  • Strong technical background in water related applications (pumps, pipelines)
  • Pipeline hydraulic and pump design experience
  • Water treatment and facilities experience
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities
  • Strong project management and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs
  • Read, write, and speak fluent English, especially as it applies to technical and business communications
  • Ability to work both in office and field environments

Job Details:

Location: Midland, TX
Pay:
Level II $86.50/hr

Level III $103.80/hr

Schedule: 5 days on/2 days off, Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week

Work Environment: 50% office/50% field work, onsite/field time required, overtime approved on an as-needed basis
