Job Title: Data Business Analyst Intern (Part-Time / Summer Internship)
Location: Hybrid (Nutley, NJ office and remote)
Position Type: Part-Time Internship (with potential Full-Time Summer Extension)
Overview
Metro Ambulance is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Business Analyst Intern to support our growing healthcare transportation operations. This role offers hands-on experience working with real-world operational, billing, and financial data within a fast-paced environment.
The intern will work closely with leadership and operational teams to analyze data, build dashboards, improve workflows, and support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Develop and execute SQL queries to extract, analyze, and validate data from operational systems
- Analyze large datasets related to trips, billing, reimbursements, and dispatch activity
- Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for operational and financial improvement
Dashboard Development (Power BI)
- Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for internal stakeholders
- Translate business requirements into visual, actionable reporting tools
- Create KPI dashboards for operations, billing performance, and revenue tracking
Operational Systems & Data (Traumasoft)
- Work with data from the Traumasoft platform, including:
- Billing module
- Dispatch module
- Trip and patient data
- Support reconciliation between system data, clearinghouse data, and bank deposits
Process Improvement & Automation
- Assist in building and documenting data workflows and business processes
- Identify inefficiencies in current workflows and propose data-driven improvements
- Support initiatives to automate reporting and validation processes
Data Validation & Quality Control
- Perform data validation, reconciliation, and accuracy checks
- Assist in identifying discrepancies in billing, payments, and operational records
- Support audit-ready reporting and documentation efforts
Business Collaboration
- Work directly with business users across billing, dispatch, and finance teams
- Gather requirements and translate them into data solutions and reports
- Provide insights that support decision-making and operational efficiency
Qualifications:
Required:
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree in:
- Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, or related field
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of SQL
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel (data analysis, formulas, pivot tables)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Preferred:
- Experience with Power BI or similar visualization tools
- Exposure to database structures and data modeling concepts
- Interest in healthcare, operations, or logistics industries
- Familiarity with workflow automation tools is a plus
Internship Details:
Part-Time: 20 hours per week (April 1 – May 31, 2026)
