Job Description

About the Family

Our client, a warm, close-knit family living in Greenwich, CT, has a busy and active home. Their teenage son, a student-athlete, lives with his parents, and their two older children, in their 20s, live on their own but visit often. This is a sporty family, and on any given day you will find someone in the pool, on the tennis court, exercising or cheering from the stands at a hockey game. They also have an apartment in the city, where they spend time periodically.

The Home

The Greenwich residence is a beautifully maintained 12k sq. ft. home with 6 bedrooms, finished in warm neutral tones that give it a serene, calm feel. The living spaces are kept spotless every day, with every detail considered.

About the Role

The Executive Housekeeper leads the care of the home’s interiors. The role is supervisory but hands-on. You’ll clean, do laundry, manage household inventory, and oversee a housekeeper who works three days a week and a weekly professional cleaning service.

You will report to the Family Assistant, who has been with the family for 11 years. She is supportive and deeply knowledgeable and will take care in onboarding you as you transition into a well-run, highly valued household team that also includes a Property Manager and Houseman.

At its core, this role is noticing and then acting. Have leaves dropped from an orchid? Are paper towels running low? Is there dust on the dining room table? Is Mrs. traveling in a few days and an outfit she plans to wear still at the dry cleaner? Once you have learned the rhythm of the home and the family’s preferences, you will spot what needs straightening, cleaning, repairing, picking up, or reordering and will take care of it before anyone asks or hands you a list. The result is a home that is organized, clean, and always ready for guests as the standard.

Schedule

  • Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week).
  • Flexibility to stay a bit later or arrive earlier may be needed when travel, guests, or events impact the regular schedule.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $60 to $65 per hour
  • 10 days PTO, 3 sick days, 6 paid holidays
  • Monthly health insurance stipend will be considered
  • Comfortable uniform provided

Responsibilities

Housekeeping

  • Own the daily cleanliness, order, and readiness of the interior. The bedrooms and bathrooms follow a set daily cleaning routine, and the rest of the house runs on a rotation.
  • Using the existing housekeeping checklists, you will maintain each room the way the principals like it, down to the small finishing touches.
  • Set daily priorities for the housekeeper and weekly priorities for the cleaning service; manage both to the household’s high cleaning standards.
  • Travel to the family’s city apartment about once every three weeks for a refresh, typically décor-related. You will communicate with the city-based housekeeper who handles cleaning and organization.

Laundry and Wardrobe

  • Do laundry, identify dry cleaning, press and fold linens and clothing, and manage seasonal wardrobe changeovers for the family.

Groceries and Household Supplies

  • Keep track of pantry items, toiletries, groceries, and household supplies. When something is about to expire or needs to be replenished, you will work with the Family Assistant to place a restocking or grocery order.
  • Extremely light food prep (e.g., prepare hard-boiled eggs).

Travel Prep, Guests, and Events

  • Retrieve suitcases from storage, assist family members with packing and unpacking, keep travel supplies stocked, and get the house ready before departures and prep the house after the family returns from travel.
  • Prepare the guest room in anticipation of guests' arrivals.
  • Set up for gatherings hosted by the family, greet guests, and assist the household team while events are underway.

Errands and Driving

  • Run local errands that include exchanges, returns, and dry cleaning drop-offs and pickups.
  • Occasionally pick up the youngest from school when the Family Assistant is not available.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Executive Housekeeper, with at least 10 years in private service overall.
  • A neat and professional presentation.
  • Clear verbal and written communication in English; the ability to speak Spanish is a pluus.
  • Comfortable supervising and holding a housekeeper and professional cleaning service to high standards.
  • Naturally proactive: you anticipate what needs to be done without waiting to be asked.
  • High emotional intelligence with the judgment to know when to step in and when to step back.
  • Easily able to shift priorities based on schedule changes and preferences of the principals.
  • The stamina to physically work on your feet, going up and down three floors throughout the day.
  • The family places a high value on privacy and requires complete discretion and confidentiality from the household staff.
  • Confidence to communicate updates to the principals directly on daily tasks if requested, especially as priorities shift or an issue arises.
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
