Job Title: Commissioning Specialist (Compressor) I, II & III
Location: Midland, TX
Schedule: 8/6 rotation, 10-hour shifts, starts on a Thursday; OT as needed (rotators)
Position Overview
Lead (or support) commissioning and decommissioning of conventional and high-pressure gas compressors for new builds, expansions, and start-ups. Work closely with construction, operations, and vendor partners to execute pressure tests, facility walk-downs, PSSRs, and safe handoffs to operations.Key Responsibilities
- Commission & decommission conventional/high-pressure compressor units.
- Coordinate and witness pressure tests; place new units online.
- Inspect new builds & expansions throughout construction; perform final inspections and PSSRs.
- Conduct 2–3 facility walk-downs during build phases to verify readiness.
- Learn and support daily gas compressor/facility operations; maintain good housekeeping.
- Perform basic troubleshooting; identify, diagnose, and repair/replace equipment as directed.
- Maintain timely, accurate operations reporting and all items required for JBPE.
- Coordinate daily with Foremen, Compressor Operators, Mechanics, Lease Operators; provide vendor oversight during start-ups.
- Participate in on-call coverage; drive to field locations in a company-provided vehicle.
- Execute special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate technological efficiency in tools and reporting.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (no engineering degree required).
- Mechanical or oilfield experience required; 2.5+ years preferred (mechanic/operator background ideal).
- Prior exposure to compressor gas-lift operations preferred.
- Working knowledge of ancillary compressor equipment:
- Fuel-gas skids and engines (gas-driven machines)
- Medium-voltage transformers/VFDs/motors (electric machines)
- Familiarity with automation/control equipment used in gas compression.
- Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record.
- Ability to work 8/6 rotation, 10-hr shifts, on-call, and overtime as required.
