Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD/CNC Designer to create technical drawings and CNC programs for manufacturing. This role works closely with production staff to turn design specifications into accurate, production-ready parts.
Responsibilities
- Create and revise 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software.
- Prepare CNC programs and toolpaths using CAM software.
- Review drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications before production.
- Select appropriate tooling, cutting strategies, feeds, and speeds in coordination with CNC operators.
- Verify programs through simulation and support machine setup and first-piece inspections.
- Troubleshoot design and machining issues to improve quality and reduce material waste.
- Maintain organized drawings, program files, setup sheets, and revision records.
- Follow company quality standards and workplace safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Experience in CAD design, CNC programming, or a related manufacturing role.
- Proficiency with relevant CAD/CAM software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Mastercam.
- Ability to read technical drawings and interpret dimensions and tolerances.
- Understanding of machining processes, materials, tooling, and CNC equipment.
- Familiarity with G-code and M-code.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and communication.
- Ability to manage priorities and collaborate with production teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certificate or associate degree in drafting, mechanical design, machining, or a related field.
- Hands-on CNC setup or operating experience.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
