Locations: Atlanta, GA | Dallas, TX | Washington, DC
Salary: $260,000–$390,000 (Washington, DC, based on experience)

Direct counsel is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney with 4–6 years of complex litigation experience to join a national law firm. This role provides exposure to high-level insurance coverage litigation, dispute analysis, and coverage assessments, with opportunities to handle all aspects of litigation from inception through trial and appeal.

Responsibilities

  • Draft complex case evaluations, pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.

  • Manage all stages of litigation, including discovery, document review, depositions, and trial preparation.

  • Conduct legal research and prepare analytical memoranda.

  • Work directly with clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counsel.

  • Analyze insurance coverage and extra-contractual disputes, drafting coverage opinions and related assessments.

  • Collaborate with partners and colleagues to support strategy and case management.

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of complex litigation experience; insurance coverage litigation experience is a strong plus.

  • Strong writing, research, case management, and oral advocacy skills.

  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.

  • Interest in emerging risks in insurance, environmental, and products liability litigation.

  • Federal District Court or Appellate clerkship is a plus.

  • Must be licensed to practice and in good standing in the state of practice; DC candidates may qualify to waive in.
