Position Overview

Celestial Innovations Group (CIG) is seeking a Big Data Analyst & Network Engineer to support a growing project with an unnamed federal customer in the Washington, DC area. This role is ideal for a well-rounded technologist with strong big data SIEM expertise, cloud systems experience, and a deep understanding of secure government environments.

You'll be part of a mission-focused team working at the intersection of data analytics, cybersecurity, and network engineering, helping deliver secure, scalable, and intelligent solutions.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage SIEM technologies, with preferred experience in any of the following: Sumo Logic, Graylog, Microsoft Sentinel, and Splunk environments
  • Develop and maintain advanced SPL (Search Processing Language) queries, dashboards, and alerting solutions.
  • Optimize search performance and maintain scalability across large enterprise deployments.
  • Onboard and parse data from various sources including Syslog, HEC, APIs, and more.
  • Configure and manage Splunk Enterprise Security (ES) and/or IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) modules.
  • Maintain and tune correlation searches mapped to the Common Information Model (CIM) across multiple enclaves.
  • Automate workflows using REST APIs, Python, and Bash scripting.
  • Administer Linux/Unix systems, including shell scripting, patching, and performance tuning.
  • Support hybrid cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GovCloud/SC2S), ensuring high availability and security.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and assist with vulnerability remediation and log integration.
  • Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity frameworks, including EO 14028, NIST 800-53, FISMA, and STIG requirements.

Preferred Experience

  • Working knowledge of SIEM concepts and operations
  • Familiarity with maintaining Authorization to Operate (ATO) requirements in federal environments
  • Experience in large-scale Splunk scaling, architecture planning, and performance tuning
  • Strong consultative and cross-team collaboration skills
