REPORTS TO: Facilities Supervisor
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent qualification. Basic HVAC knowledge, building maintenance technology, or a relevant field is preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
SALARY RANGE: $17 - $20/ Hour
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:
Facilities Maintenance Technician will perform basic and routine facilities maintenance, construction, and repair tasks according to the service, quality, and safety standards; to oversee the general upkeep of the building and its infrastructure. Their role is to maintain building operations and ensure that the facilities are always safe and functional. Maintenance Technicians can manage technical repairs and inspect HVAC systems alongside aesthetic maintenance like applying new coats of paint and trimming the bushes and grass on facility grounds. They manage routine maintenance and emergency repairs to prevent and resolve safety or comfort issues.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs a variety of routine semi-skilled maintenance for HOPE Clinic facilities, including, but not limited to, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical trades work;
- Ensures that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition;
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of heating, electrical, and air conditioning equipment; replaces filters; identifies and reports more complex maintenance needs to supervisor;
- Assist in developing and implementing preventative maintenance procedures, as needed;
- Plan and schedule repairs and maintenance as needed;
- Assists with structural pest control measures as needed;
- Maintain records and logs of daily activities;
- Assists with HOPE Clinic special events, as needed;
- Perform routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example, windows, doors, wall repairs, etc. as needed;
- Be familiar with the building’s HVAC system and schedule maintenance to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly when needed;
- Use tools and/or equipment to perform the job in an efficient, effective, and safe manner;
- Assemble, repair, maintain, and move furniture, such as desks, cabinets, tables, chairs, shelves, and related fittings and fixtures as needed;
- Assist with meeting space set-up and break-down as needed;
- Inspect facilities and grounds for safety and security; identifies and reports hazardous conditions and facility maintenance needs to supervisor;
- Follow safe working practices and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required;
- Perform custodial tasks as needed;
- Attend on-site/off-site community engagement activities, clinic events, and/or training as needed;
- Perform other duties as assigned to support HOPE Clinic’s Mission, Vision, and Values;
Requirements:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- In-depth knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems;
- Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques;
- Physically capable and available to work overtime including weekends, public holidays, and evenings;
- Effective problem-solving abilities;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Must be well-organized and can prioritize tasks;
- Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked;
- Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on the building;
- Interpersonal skills to interact with employees or residents of the building in a pleasant manner;
- Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the building;
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification;
- Basic understanding of building HVAC equipment to retain operational efficiency;
- Electrical wiring capabilities to manage problems with the building’s electricity;
- Plumbing knowledge to address leaks, clogs, or other drainage problems.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Bilingual (Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic, and/or Spanish with English) is preferred.
- Above average skills in language ability as well as public speaking and writing.
- Must have good transportation and a valid Texas Driver’s license and insurance.
