Locations: New York, Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee, Tallahassee, or Washington, D.C.

Direct Counsel is seeking an Insurance Associate Attorney to join a national law firm with a sophisticated insurance practice. The firm represents insurers, reinsurers, and insurance-related entities in a wide range of corporate and regulatory matters.

About the Role:
The firm is seeking an associate with 3–5 years of experience in corporate transactions and insurance regulatory matters. The ideal candidate will have experience with:

  • Representing insurers, reinsurers, and related entities (e.g., general agencies, TPAs) in transactions, restructurings, reinsurance transactions, and M&A matters.

  • Advising clients on compliance with complex insurance regulatory laws and conducting due diligence related to insurance regulatory issues arising in merger and acquisition transactions.

  • Managing multiple transactions and complex projects with minimal oversight.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Active membership and good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with timely admission required for the office of hire.

  • Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Excellent academic credentials and a collaborative, proactive approach to client service.
