Job DescriptionDescription:

Mental Health Association of Nassau County (MHANC) is a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to improving mental health in our community through advocacy, education, program development, and the delivery of direct services. Our organization is looking for a motivated individual with a calling to help adults with mental illness by becoming a PROS Advisor.


The PROS Advisor is responsible for designing and delivering psychiatric rehabilitation curriculum to adults with mental health conditions enrolled in MHANC’s Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) Program. This role supports individuals in achieving personal recovery goals, promoting healthier, more fulfilling lives in alignment with their cultural values and beliefs. The PROS Advisor will provide group work and individual sessions to members in the PROS Program.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement recovery-focused curriculum tailored to the needs of adults with mental illness.
  • Facilitate both group and individual sessions, ensuring adherence to program and agency standards.
  • Conduct intake assessments and serve as a backup to the Intake coordinator as needed.
  • Provide mobile services within the community when required.
  • Participate in the admission and discharge processes of program members.
  • Collaborate with members and their chosen supports to develop individualized recovery plans.
  • Create structured learning environments that support goal achievement.
  • Ensure implementation of program philosophy, goals, and objectives in accordance with agency policies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including IRP plans, progress notes, contact logs, medication reviews, and other required assessments.
  • Contribute to the agency’s Quality Improvement initiatives.
  • Attend staff meetings and actively engage in team collaboration.
  • Foster positive working relationships with staff to ensure coordinated and effective service delivery.
  • Identify service gaps and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in safety drills and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the PROS Clinical Director.
  • Maintain professional development through ongoing training and education relevant to the mental health field.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:


Education & Experience:

  • Minimum requirement: High School Diploma with a minimum 3 years of experience working with individuals living with mental illness. Bachelor’s degree Preferred.
  • (Or) Certified Peer Specialist.
  • Prior experience with mental health population preferred.

Other Qualifications:

  • Valid NYS Driver’s License.
  • Must have working knowledge of MS Office, Basic Internet, EMR
  • Good written and oral communication skills, team oriented, strong leadership skills and the ability to multi-task.
