Job Summary:

Highland Home Improvement is a company with a friendly, professional team environment. Our Handyman/Field Tech is responsible for performing a variety of repairs, maintenance, and improvement projects in residential and commercial properties. This role requires a skilled, reliable professional with attention to detail who can troubleshoot issues, complete jobs efficiently, and uphold company quality standards. The Handyman/Field Tech must be customer-focused, safety-conscious, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Additionally, the Handyman/Field Tech is responsible for pricing jobs accurately, collecting jobs, scheduling work efficiently, and ensuring proper documentation of time and materials.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

General Repairs & Maintenance:
● Perform minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, and painting work
● Repair and install doors, windows, light fixtures, appliances, and other home/business components

● Assemble furniture, install appliances, and conduct small remodeling tasks
● Ensure all work is completed efficiently, safely, and up to quality standards

Job Collection, Scheduling & Pricing:

● Respond to customer inquiries and job requests in a professional and timely manner
● Accurately price jobs based on labor, materials, and job complexity
● Complete assigned jobs efficiently and with attention to detail within expected timeframes
● Schedule jobs efficiently to maximize productivity and minimize downtime
● Provide clients with clear and transparent estimates for the work requested.
● Adjust estimates based on client needs, additional services, or unforeseen challenges

● Communicate with the operations team to schedule, reschedule, or adjust job timelines

● Ensure jobs are priced in alignment with company pricing guidelines to maintain profitability

● Document pricing breakdowns, client approvals, and scheduling details for internal tracking

Safety & Compliance:

● Follow all workplace safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
● Follow all company policies and protocols

● Ensure compliance with local building codes and company policies
● Maintain a clean and organized work environment to prevent hazards

Client Interaction & Service:

● Communicate clearly and professionally with clients regarding job scope, progress and expectations

● Provide excellent customer service and maintain a friendly, professional demeanor
● Address client concerns or questions and escalate issues to management when needed
● Follow up with clients post-job to ensure satisfaction and generate repeat business or referrals

Job Documentation & Reporting:

● Complete work orders, job checklists, and service reports accurately and in a timely manner
● Document materials used, time spent, and additional costs associated with each job in an accurate and timely manner
● Ensure all job details, including pricing breakdowns and client approvals are properly recorded for invoicing.
● Maintain proper documentation for all jobs, estimates, and client interactions.

Vehicle & Equipment Management:

● Properly maintain and use company tools, equipment, and vehicle
● Ensure company take-home vehicles are clean and properly maintained and follow all policies related to company vehicles
● Track inventory of supplies and follow procedures for requesting replenishment when needed

Minimum Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

● High school diploma or equivalent required, must be 18 years of age or older
● Minimum 2 years of experience in general handyman work, maintenance, or a related skilled trade

● Experience in residential and/or commercial property maintenance preferred

●Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record

Technical Skills:

● Proficiency in basic plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general home repair
● Familiarity with local building codes and safety regulations
● Ability to accurately estimate labor and material costs for small-to-medium-sized jobs

● Experience with job scheduling software or ability to learn company scheduling systems

● Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment

Soft Skills:

● Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

● Excellent time management and organizational abilities

● Effective communication and customer service skills

● Ability to work independently and as part of a team

● Ability to sell and upsell services based on client needs

Physical Requirements:

● Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and perform physically demanding work
● Ability to work in various weather conditions
● Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and climb ladders as needed

● Comfortable working in tight spaces or at heights when necessary
