GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Forman Fabricator works on the Shop Floor and performs tasks assigned by the Shop Supervisor. The Forman Fabricator is responsible for overseeing other fabricators, and ensuring they complete they’re projects correctly, on budget, and on time. In addition, fabricating components themselves while achieving safety, quality, and delivery objectives. They achieve this by following written work instructions, operating equipment and machines, fitting and tacking of assemblies, welding using multiple processes, maintaining equipment, and effectively leading team members.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


PRODUCTION

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and productive work environment.
  • Manage other team members in their department by routinely checking on progress, adherence to safety rules, and work quality.
  • Interpret and follow written work instructions and drawings with minimal supervision.
  • Perform daily duties using tools and equipment such as welders, forklift, grinders, bevellers, portable hand tools, saws, step ladders, measuring tools, and others, to produce projects correctly and on time.
  • Competently set-up and adjust welding machines in GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW, to produce high quality welds.
  • Use measuring devises to layout and fit-up complex assemblies to 1/32" tolerances
  • Conduct routine troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs of the machines and supporting equipment
  • Provide personal hand tools to perform all daily tasks
  • Aid in the planning of upcoming work as needed.
  • Report on shop workload and production scheduling issues.
  • Be available for overtime as needed to keep projects on schedule

COMMUNICATION

  • Routinely communicate projected project completion dates, changes to equipment, or facility, and personal issues to supervisor.
  • Work individually or as a team with other personnel to meet schedules and achieve set goals.
  • Contribute feedback to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.

GENERAL

  • Accomplish additional tasks as assigned or as necessary for the success of the organization.
  • Routinely contribute to the continual improvement of the organization.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs, stand for long periods, and climb a ladder.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or legally allowed to work in the U.S.
