SUMMARY
Seeking a highly experienced Flexographic Press Operator to support advanced narrow-web and mid-web printing operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position combines expert-level press operation, troubleshooting, process optimization, and technical leadership responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on experience operating large-format, high-output printing equipment while mentoring team members and driving continuous improvement initiatives across production operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Independently set up, operate, and monitor complex flexographic printing jobs on large-format narrow-web and mid-web presses.
- Maintain precise registration, color consistency, die-cutting accuracy, and web tension control throughout production runs.
- Lead complex press changeovers and coordinate support staff to improve efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Operate advanced inline finishing systems including specialty coatings, foil applications, screen printing units, curing systems, and inspection technology.
- Troubleshoot and resolve advanced mechanical, electrical, and print quality issues with minimal supervision.
- Support new material trials, print process evaluations, and qualification runs while helping establish standardized operating procedures.
- Mentor and train junior operators on press setup, troubleshooting techniques, safety practices, and quality expectations.
- Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and production teams to improve equipment reliability, waste reduction, throughput, and operational performance.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts related to setup reduction, production efficiency, and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Maintain detailed production, maintenance, and quality documentation while supporting safety and compliance initiatives.
- Serve as a technical resource for operators and production personnel regarding complex print challenges and process improvements.
- Coordinate with vendors and technical partners regarding equipment upgrades, troubleshooting support, and process enhancements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of flexographic press operating experience in a manufacturing or printing environment.
- Strong experience operating large-format narrow-web and/or mid-web flexographic presses.
- Advanced understanding of print quality, color management, registration systems, tension control, curing systems, and process optimization.
- Demonstrated leadership experience supporting production teams, mentoring operators, and leading technical initiatives.
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues.
- Experience with advanced inline finishing equipment, inspection systems, and specialty printing applications preferred.
- Technical certifications or advanced vocational training related to printing, manufacturing, or equipment maintenance are considered a plus.
- Ability to safely handle physical production duties, including standing for extended periods and handling large material rolls.
