Labor Counsel
Montefiore is seeking an experienced Labor Counsel to represent the organization and support the effective administration of collective bargaining agreements. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in labor relations, strong advocacy skills, and a solid understanding of employment and labor law at the local, state, and federal levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise management on the interpretation and administration of collective bargaining agreements.
- Negotiate and/or provide legal guidance during collective bargaining sessions.
- Handle all aspects of labor arbitrations, including preparation, witness interviews, and first-chair representation at hearings.
- Respond to and defend against charges filed with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
- Investigate and research grievances and labor-related issues.
- Provide guidance on complex labor policies, rules, and arbitration awards.
- Draft legal documents and deliver training on labor-related topics.
- Represent management in NLRB elections and unfair labor practice matters.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) required.
- 4–6 years of labor law experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience conducting arbitrations, interviewing witnesses, and serving as first chair in arbitration hearings.
- Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.
Location: Yonkers, NY
Work Schedule: MON-FRI, 8:30 AM-5 PM
Salary Range: $168,000.00-$210,000.00
