Job Summary
QB Energy is seeking a highly motivated Development Engineer to play a pivotal role in managing reservoir development projects from planning through execution, working closely with multiple disciplines including engineers and geoscientists. This role plays a vital part in optimizing field development and recovery strategies for a multibillion-dollar development program in the Piceance Basin. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Leads the coordination, planning, and execution of field development programs, ensuring reservoir performance is optimized and subsurface understanding is effectively translated into project delivery.
- Leads and facilitates permitting multi-pads areas to support long-term development schedule
- Provides reservoir engineering leadership for drilling and completions activities, including Pad site selection, development concepts, and depletion strategies.
- Collaborates closely with subsurface teams (reservoir engineering and geoscience), drilling, completions, production, and regulatory groups to deliver development plans that are technically robust, economically sound, and aligned with corporate objectives.
- Supports regulatory submissions for drilling and completion permits and ensure reservoir engineering considerations meet regulatory and environmental requirements.
- Demonstrates strong cross‑functional collaboration and technical rigor, consistently converting reservoir insights into actionable development strategies that balance capital efficiency, operational constraints, and long‑term asset value.
Qualifications
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering or a related engineering discipline is required.
Experience:
- 8-15+ years of experience in reservoir engineering with a strong focus on field development and execution.
Skills & Abilities:
- Proven ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with diverse teams, and demonstrate strong leadership to drive successful outcomes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Specialized knowledge:
- Demonstrated track record of applying advanced reservoir engineering principles, integrated subsurface analysis, and project‑focused decision making to deliver optimized development plans and measurable improvements in field performance.
- Proficient in Combo Curve/ARIES, Scheduling tools, Excel, Spotfire, Data analytics, Machine Learning,
Compensation
The base compensation for this role in this location is targeted between $175,000 and $209,000 annually. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the range listed above.

Work Conditions
Location:
This position is in Denver, CO. Candidates currently residing in locations outside of daily commuting distance will be considered, however, it is the expectation that the selected individual will be available at the work location.
Work Environment:
This position operates in an office environment. This entails working inside an office space wherein employees may be provided a public workstation (cubicle) or private office. From time to time, the role will require field visits where exposure to extreme weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, dust, electrical charges and other unforeseen exposures may be encountered.
Physical Demands:
In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time. While at work sites, the employee will be expected to walk and stand. Individuals might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individuals might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. in the performance of this position.
Position Type and Working Hours:
This is a full-time position. Core work hours are from 8:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday, and 8:00am – 12:00pm on Friday. Employees must be capable and willing to work overtime as required and to participate in occasional meetings, events, seminars, conferences, or other activities outside of typical work hours. Employees responsible for project operations are expected to monitor and, in some cases, respond to emails, calls, or texts outside of business hours.
Travel:
Occasional travel to work site locations may be expected. Overnight stays may be required from time to time for training, seminars, field visits, or visits to onsite locations.
