Job DescriptionDuties: Job title: Customer Logistics Intercompany Project Manager

  • Reports to Global Logistics, ensuring strategic alignment across cross-functional teams, facilitating Intercompany vehicle utilization and shipment optimization.
  • Leverages Power BI analytics to identify trends, underutilized nodes and lanes, and drive continuous improvement in Intercompany (ICO) Load Factor Metrics (LFM), with a goal of improving baseline performance to an 80% vehicle utilization rate.
  • Develops decision-support tools, including prioritization matrices, process maps, and implementation timelines to accelerate the rollout of load factor initiatives and inform site visit planning.
  • Prepares and participates in onsite events including Distribution Centers and Manufacturing plants, Summits, Workshops, etc.
  • Partners with Americas Domestic Transportation to ensure consistent operational execution of improvement plans at sites to drive measurable improvements in shipping efficiency.
  • Owns cross-functional solution development with Planning, Packaging Engineering, and Business Supply Chain to resolve systemic issues beyond site-level operational controls for all USAC sites.
  • Develop overall site-level target roadmap and execution plan to achieve 80 % load factor Tracks and reports site-level improvement activities, creating visibility into initiative progress and reinforcing accountability at Distribution Centers and Manufacturing plants.
  • Optimizes Intercompany (ICO) Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs) by partnering with Planning to align order patterns with transportation capacity and efficiency goals.
  • Collaborates with DC technical and Packaging to implement standardized full layer/pallet configurations, increasing load stackability and minimizing shipping waste.
  • Drives optimization of Intercompany (ICO) shipping schedules, working closely with Planning and IT to improve frequency, routing, and timing in alignment with load factor targets.
  • Evaluates level-load planning concept on key international lane Collaborate with Planning, DC team, DA&A to identify and execute sustainable order quantity improvement roadmap Define overall load factor operating rhythm Continuously improves the Global Load Factor Playbook and RACI for Plant Manufacturing, Distribution Centers, and Area Logistics by developing and updating standardized methodologies to enhance vehicle efficiency, minimize shipment volume, and reduce transportation costs.
  • Maintains and updates content within centralized Viva Engage Community; links, documents, events, and responding to inquiries and ideation sharing.
  • Generates and distributes executive-level performance summaries that provide real-time visibility into global Intercompany (ICO) load factor metrics, shipment efficiency, and cost savings performance, tailored for site and regional leadership.
  • Leads performance reviews with leadership to ensure accountability and realization of value-based logistics initiatives.
  • Collaborates with Reporting & Operational Excellence team, and determines enhanced views and improves data quality in load factor PBI dashboard
  • Set up governance procedures to maintain improvements, and create SOPs to document new standards



Capabilities and Experience

Logistics Experience – Customer Logistics, Logistics Packaging, Transportation and Transportation modes, Load Planning Logistics shipping efficiency project experience – Demonstrated successful implementation of logistics efficiency projects such as trailer utilization optimization, providing innovative logistics packaging solutions Project Leadership - Create structure and framework around project management with experienced project management and general PMO leadership.

The project manager would focus on driving the plan, ensuring tasks were identified, assigned and on-track, escalating issues, arranging meetings, providing communications and summaries, coordinating site activities, etc.
The project leader would need to quickly establish the framework to manage and track the overall project. There are multiple elements that need to align for our projects to be successful with a defined project structure and process.
Responsibilities would include but not limited to:

defining project scope, full savings reduction opportunity, schedule, objectives and deliverables, developing a detailed project plan with timelines, milestones and dependencies, identifying critical project risks, creating templates and tools to manage all project stages across multiple workstreams (people, supply chain, system, communications, etc), leveraging automated data sources (PBI, etc) coordinating 3M resources assigned to deliver the project in Transportation, Manufacturing, Distribution, Planning, Packaging, Procurement, DA&A, IT etc.
communicating with stakeholders and providing executive report outs

The project leader would need to be able to travel domestically (US) & internationally intermittently and have flexibility to work across international time zones. Prefer MN based. At the beginning, potential for more travel may be required, given planned 'load factor roadshow' at key USAC facilities.

The role focuses on optimizing Intercompany vehicle utilization and shipment efficiency, aiming for an 80% vehicle utilization rate. It involves leveraging Power BI analytics to identify trends and underutilized trailer nodes, developing decision-support tools, and facilitating cross-functional collaboration to resolve systemic issues. The manager partners with various teams to optimize intercompany Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs), implement standardized pallet configurations, optimized packaging solutions and improve intercompany shipping schedules. The PM track and report site-level improvements, maintain content within a centralized community, and generate executive-level performance summaries. Additionally, the role includes setting governance procedures, creating SOPs, and leading performance reviews to ensure accountability and sustain improvements.

Minimal work direction needed, highly skilled and knowledgeable to the position and provides best practicing sharing within work group. Worker to manage global supply of critical raw materials. Work with suppliers, and global the client planning team to optimize the supply of critical raw material items. - Provide process support to division Sales and Operations Planning Processes. Create demand plans. Analyze international supply plans. Manage key process indices. - Provide data support to division planning teams. Manage reporting process for demand planning, order management, inventory management, and financial reporting. - Ownership for global non-working inventory management process. Work with subsidiaries to identify NWI items. Identify disposition plans. Track progress.
