OVERVIEW:
The Engineer 2 is an intermediate-level position responsible for performing a wider range of maintenance and repair tasks throughout the hotel property, contributing to a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for guests and staff. This role independently handles more complex maintenance issues and assists senior engineering staff with preventative maintenance programs and project work. The Engineer 2 possesses a solid understanding of general maintenance principles and demonstrates increasing proficiency in various technical areas.

Essential Functions:
- Independently diagnose and resolve a variety of maintenance issues, including:
- Intermediate plumbing repairs (e.g., repairing leaky faucets, replacing valves, clearing more complex clogs).
- Intermediate electrical repairs (e.g., troubleshooting lighting circuits, replacing outlets and switches).
- More extensive painting and drywall repairs.
- Refurbishing and repairing furniture and fixtures.
- Deep cleaning and maintenance of various floor surfaces.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting basic HVAC systems (e.g., cleaning coils, checking belts, identifying common issues).
- Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities and equipment, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues before they escalate.
- Respond efficiently and effectively to guest requests and maintenance work orders, ensuring timely resolution and guest satisfaction.
- Assist in the development and execution of preventative maintenance programs for various hotel systems and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Ensure the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the engineering workshop, storage areas, and equipment.
- Operate and maintain all assigned tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of meeting rooms and events, including troubleshooting basic AV equipment.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Engineer 1 staff.
- Communicate effectively with guests, colleagues, supervisors, and potentially external contractors.
- Assist with minor project work and renovations under the direction of senior engineering staff.
- Adhere to all safety procedures, regulations, and hotel standards.
Other Tasks:
- Assist with groundskeeping and landscaping tasks, including basic irrigation system maintenance.
- Assist with snow removal and ice control, operating relevant equipment if trained.
- Assist with inventory management of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Obtain quotes for minor repairs or supplies as directed.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to expand technical knowledge and skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer or Engineering Supervisor.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift, and carry objects up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including confined spaces and at heights.
- Proficient manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate a wider range of tools and equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and work at elevated heights safely.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or certification in a relevant trade is a plus.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in hotel maintenance or a related field.
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance.
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs.

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled mandatory training sessions and meetings is required.
