Job DescriptionCivil Litigation Attorney - Hybrid Schedule About the Opportunity A well-regarded Portland civil litigation firm is seeking an attorney with 3-5 years of experience in civil disputes or insurance defense. This role offers a balanced billable expectation, strong support, and meaningful opportunities to take ownership of cases. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing matters independently while also collaborating with a team on more complex litigation. Key Responsibilities • Handle all phases of civil litigation, from initial pleadings through resolution • Conduct legal research, draft motions, briefs, and discovery responses • Manage discovery, including propounding and responding, and coordinating depositions • Appear at hearings, mediations, and depositions, with the opportunity to take a lead role • Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on strategy and case development • Maintain billable requirements while balancing quality work and deadlines Qualifications • 3-5 years of experience in civil litigation or insurance defense • Strong writing, research, and courtroom skills • Ability to manage a caseload with minimal oversight • Experience handling motions, discovery, and litigation strategy • Strong communication skills with clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams • Must be licensed (or eligible for timely licensure) to practice in Oregon Work Environment & Culture • Supportive and team-oriented environment • Opportunities for professional development and mentorship • A good fit for attorneys looking to transition from large firms or independent practice to a more balanced environment with reasonable billables Role Details Location: Portland, OR Type: Contract to Hire Compensation Range: $50 - $72 per hour Billable Requirement: 1,400 hours per year Work Arrangement: 3 days onsite - 2 days remote Equal Opportunity Statement: The firm is an equal opportunity employer and encourages candidates from all backgrounds to apply.
