Full-Time Accountant


Overview


The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) requires a Full-Time Accountant to support the expedited delivery of Phase 2 of the GSA Headquarters Modernization, encompassing 530,000 usable square feet (USF) of renovated space. This role provides essential financial, administrative, and project coordination services throughout the design, construction, commissioning, and post‑construction phases.

The Accountant will work closely with the Senior Advisor, Project Management teams, architects, builders, government vendors, and key GSA stakeholders. This position is dedicated full-time to the GSA project and requires strong analytical, coordination, and communication skills.


Key Responsibilities


General Project Support

  • Provide full-time accounting and financial management support to the project team.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of all project issues, documentation, correspondence, and schedule changes.
  • Attend all project-related meetings and represent the government’s interests when required.
  • Coordinate non‑regularly scheduled meetings and prepare accurate, timely meeting minutes.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with project stakeholders, including GSA personnel, contractors, architects, and vendors.
  • Support the Senior Advisor by documenting and tracking project progress.
  • Financial Management & Reporting

    • Maintain comprehensive financial records and support robust project accounting practices.
    • Track and manage overall project budgets, awards, invoicing, and financial obligations.
    • Manage and monitor up to 12 budget activities, including constraints, prorating, combinations, obligation dates, and expiration timelines.
    • Coordinate with the Project Management team to maintain accurate contingency balances for each budget activity.
    • Prepare weekly financial reports including:
    • Obligation tracking
    • Invoice tracking
    • Contingency tracking
    • Funding tracking by phase
    • Funding tracking by contractor
    • Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements as required.
    • Monitor accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and expense tracking.
    • Assist with budget development, forecasting, cost management, and financial risk mitigation.
    • Maintain daily communication with government stakeholders to ensure financial integrity and transparency.
  • Required Qualifications


    • Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting, budget management, project management, or a closely related field.
    • Demonstrated experience performing similar duties on at least two (2) comparable projects (project list required).
    • Ability to obtain an HSPD‑12 security clearance.
    • Strong financial analysis, budgeting, and record‑keeping skills.
    • Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management abilities.
    • Proficiency in financial tracking, reporting, and documentation tools.


    Preferred Qualifications


    • Experience supporting large-scale federal, construction, or modernization projects.
    • Familiarity with GSA processes, federal budgeting, and government financial systems.
    • Strong analytical skills and an ability to manage complex, multi‑layered budgets.
