Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. This role is essential in providing support and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving and a strong commitment to fostering independence and dignity among those they serve.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide patient care and support in various settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, or home care environments.
- Monitor and document vital signs and changes in client conditions, ensuring accurate patient observation.
- Implement care plans tailored to individual needs, including medication administration and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation, particularly for those with Alzheimer’s or dementia care needs.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties as necessary.
- Support clients with mobility challenges using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when required.
- Foster positive relationships with clients while promoting their independence and self-esteem through direct support.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in long-term care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.
- Experience in home health, hospice care, or memory care is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including individuals with autism.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed to assist clients safely.
- Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques and caregiving best practices is essential.
