Job Summary:
The Paralegal is responsible for using skills, training and providing legal assistance to assigned attorney including:
- Conferring with insurance carriers and/or attorneys regarding delinquent accounts, drafting motions and responses as directed by the responsible attorney, and negotiating claim and case settlements.
- Assists and provides a range of legal support and administration to lawyers and other legal professionals engaged in criminal, civil or administrative law.
- Performs legal, factual, and records research.
- Identifies relevant judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, codes and other pertinent material, organizes, analyzes, and validates information.
- Prepares written reports and drafts legal documents including briefs, pleadings, appeals, agreements, contracts and legal memorandum.
- Assists with trial preparation, such as witness lists, exhibits and trial binders.
Education/Experience:
- 8+ years legal assistant or paralegal experience specifically in Litigation and Corporate Law; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have experience in pleading, e-filing, depositions, trial studies, depositions, and drafting of legal documents such as responses, original petitions, and demand letters.
- A paralegal certificate from a certified paralegal program is required.
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college program or Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college program or technical school is preferred.
Schedule: Onsite 5 days a week in zip code 77002
Shift: Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM
