Position Summary

The Senior Reserves Engineer role will focus on SEC reporting, bank reserve reporting, data and database management while working in a collaborative environment with technologist and management. BSM has an ownership in over 65,000 wells across the US in almost every major producing basin. Our corporate reserves database contains over 10,000 forecasted line items and provides key deliverables to the accounting, finance, and land administration teams. The role is data intensive and requires an individual with a passion for data management and data discipline.

In This Role, You Will

  • Help maintain an SEC compliant reserve report filed annually along with key inputs and tables in the company 10k including the SMOG calculation
  • Support and prepare material for the bank reserve report which is redetermined semi-annually
  • Update production, adjust well forecasts, calculate LOE and other economic parameters
  • Assist in SOX documentation and audit exercises
  • Handle special requests from the finance and accounting departments
  • Help in preparing materials for board of directors and bank meetings
  • Map coding and identifiers between departments and systems
  • Assist in developing a production budget
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering or similar discipline
  • Working knowledge of PRMS and SEC reporting requirements for unconventional and conventional oil and gas reserves
  • 10 years of reservoir engineering experience, 3-5 years of reserve engineering experience
  • A passion for data management and data discipline
  • Expert in reserves management software ARIES/PHDWin or similar
  • Expert in Excel and/or other database management systems including SQL, Spotfire, or Power BI
  • Ability to plan and organize workload, adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure with minimum supervision.
  • Solid interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build relationships in a small team environment as well as with external parties
