Location: Boston, Massachusetts; New York, New York
Direct Counsel is seeking a Real Estate Associate to join a leading international law firm’s highly regarded Real Estate Practice Group. This is an excellent opportunity for a mid- to senior-level real estate attorney to work on sophisticated, market-leading transactions across a broad range of asset classes and deal structures.
The firm’s real estate platform is consistently ranked among the strongest globally, advising institutional investors, developers, lenders, and funds on complex, high-value transactions across the U.S. and international markets.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions
- Structure and negotiate joint ventures, equity investments, and entity formations
- Advise lenders and borrowers on construction and permanent financings
- Work on portfolio transactions, REITs, and real estate fund matters
- Handle leasing, development, and asset management matters across asset classes
- Draft and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, JV agreements, financing documents, and related transaction documents
- Collaborate with tax, corporate, and finance teams on structured real estate deals
Qualifications
- 4–6+ years of real estate law firm experience
- Strong background in acquisitions, dispositions, and complex financing transactions
- Experience with joint ventures, structuring, and entity formation
- Familiarity with multiple asset types (residential, industrial, office, retail, hospitality, land)
- Experience working with REITs and real estate funds preferred
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
- Excellent academic credentials
- Admission to the New York Bar or eligibility to waive in

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $310,000 – $390,000 annually
