Position Overview
A premier, multi-practice law firm is seeking a seasoned Litigation Paralegal to join their Mobile, AL office.

This client is a multi-disciplinary, regional defense firm headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, with a heavy emphasis on civil litigation and business services

This is a critical role designed for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to provide comprehensive support through every phase of the litigation lifecycle, from initial discovery to the courtroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of civil litigation matters including insurance defense, personal injury, and professional liability files.
  • Prepare and file pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and other court documents; ensure timely e-filing and service according to jurisdictional rules.
  • Coordinate and respond to discovery requests, prepare interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and compile document productions.
  • Organize and maintain case files, exhibits, privilege logs, chronologies, and trial binders for attorney review.
  • Perform legal research and draft memoranda, correspondence, demand letters, and settlement documents.
  • Schedule and prepare attorneys, witnesses, and experts for depositions, mediations, and trial; attend hearings and trials as needed to provide logistical and substantive support.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, experts, vendors, and court personnel; manage incoming client inquiries and case status updates.
  • Manage deadlines, calendars, and docketing to ensure compliance with statute of limitations and court-ordered schedules.
  • Coordinate with vendors for investigations, medical records retrieval, billing, and transcript ordering; prepare exhibits and demonstratives for trial.
  • Assist with settlement negotiations, prepare settlement statements, and support billing and matter-cost tracking.

Qualifications

  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent paralegal education preferred; Bachelor's degree desirable.
  • 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience, with demonstrable experience in civil litigation and insurance defense; experience in personal injury and professional liability matters strongly preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of litigation procedures, discovery practice, court rules, and trial preparation.
  • Strong drafting skills with experience preparing pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
  • Proficiency with e-filing systems, case management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase, Filevine, or similar), Microsoft Office, and legal research tools (Westlaw, LexisNexis preferred).
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and client-service skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced law firm environment.
  • Professional demeanor, integrity, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
