Position Overview
Batteries Plus in Leander, Texas is hiring two Store Associates to join our growing team. Store Associates greet customers, provide technical assistance, install and test batteries, perform device repairs, stock merchandise, and help maintain the store’s professional appearance. This is a hands on role ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with tools and small parts, and delivering excellent customer service.
Both full-time and part-time positions are available.
General Function
Provide customers with total solutions to their battery, bulb, and services problems while doing so in a courteous, professional and helpful manner.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
- Greet customers, determine needs and answer questions
- Suggest sell add-on items, participate in retail store and commercial sales activities in order to achieve sales and profit goals
- Ask questions to identify potential commercial customers
- Operate computer/cash register to complete sales transactions with accuracy
- Answer phones, ensuring messages are relayed
- Watch for loss prevention issues and advise management of any unusual activities
- Demonstrate a customer-first mentality
Technical
- Install batteries, perform tests and tech work
- Able to rebuild cordless drill batteries and other battery packs as needed
- Repair cell phones, tablets, light fixtures and other devices as needed
- Replace screens, batteries and other components on smartphones and tablets
- Cut keys and reprogram key fob remotes Merchandising & Inventory
- Assist in all store operations responsibilities as assigned by Store Manager and Commercial Sales Manager
- Rotate and stock inventory
- Load, unload, and deliver or arrange delivery of product to customers or via third party delivery companies
- Organize daily recovery of displays to achieve full store appearance
- Maintain retail shelf label pricing
- Build displays; setting up & taking down shelves and fixtures
- Prepare store for daily opening and closing including counting and reconciling register drawers
- Maintain physical facility safety and appearance including mowing lawn, removing snow, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors. Maintain restroom cleanliness
- Follow all safety rules and regulations; wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Qualifications
- H.S. diploma or equivalent and 6 months prior work experience preferred or equivalent combination of
- Must have technical aptitude and have the ability to work small parts and tools
- Ability to make minor decisions and use some judgment within standardized procedures
- Good listening and verbal communication skills with a customer focus; general knowledge of customer service policies/procedures
- Must possess and use organizational and analytical problem-solving skills
- Ability to calculate simple math, percentages, ratios and algebraic expressions and read gauges 2
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred.

- This position requires the employee to regularly stand, walk and use hands to handle or touch; frequently talk, hear and lift up to 50 pounds; and occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach above shoulders, and lift more than 50 pounds.
- The position requires the employee to regularly use electrical cables, simple hand tools, a magnifying glass, spot welders, automotive and electronic testing equipment, as well as regular use of a phone, fax, computer, and printer/copier.
- While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee will occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions and the risk of electrical shock.
- The level of noise in the working environment is moderate.
- Protective clothing and/or equipment used in this position includes goggles, gloves, and steel-toed shoes.
Work Environment
This position involves a moderate-noise retail environment, hands-on work, and daily interaction with customers and technology.
