About the Role:

Hoagland, Longo, Moran, Dunst & Doukas, LLP is seeking a motivated Construction Litigation Associate Attorney to join our growing Construction Practice Group. This position offers the opportunity to handle sophisticated construction-related litigation matters from inception through resolution while working closely with experienced litigators and clients throughout New Jersey and the surrounding region.

The ideal candidate will have experience representing owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, insurers, and other construction industry clients in complex litigation involving construction defects, delay claims, contract disputes, property damage, and related commercial matters. Candidates with insurance defense and/or construction litigation experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

This role offers significant responsibility, direct client interaction, courtroom experience, and the opportunity to develop a thriving litigation practice in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Admission to the New Jersey Bar is required. Admission to New York and/or Pennsylvania is a plus. Hybrid work schedules are available to support work-life balance.

Attorney Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a litigation caseload involving construction defect, construction accident, contract, and commercial disputes from inception through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation-related documents
  • Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive legal memoranda
  • Take and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses
  • Participate in mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, and court appearances
  • Develop litigation strategy in collaboration with partners and clients
  • Coordinate with experts, consultants, engineers, architects, and other construction professionals
  • Communicate regularly with clients and insurance carriers regarding case strategy, status updates, budgets, and outcomes
  • Negotiate settlements and assist with trial preparation and trial proceedings
  • Maintain accurate case files and meet all litigation deadlines
  • Stay current on developments in construction law and related litigation trends

Attorney Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active admission to the New Jersey Bar required
  • Admission to the New York and/or Pennsylvania Bar is a plus
  • 2–8+ years of construction litigation, commercial litigation, or insurance defense experience preferred
  • Experience handling construction defect, contract, or casualty litigation is highly desirable
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
  • Experience managing discovery, depositions, and motion practice
  • Trial and arbitration experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while working collaboratively within a team
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional client service and maintaining the highest ethical standards
