The Shaw JCC in Akron is a community space where people come together to swim, work out, and spend time with their families. Our aquatics team plays a big role in that experience, and we’re looking to add lifeguards for our indoor pool.
Whether you’re searching for a summer job or something you can stick with year-round, we have opportunities that fit both. Our lifeguards are friendly, attentive, and committed to creating a safe, positive environment for everyone who uses our pools.
As a lifeguard, you’ll spend your time watching over swimmers, staying alert and rescue-ready, and stepping in when help is needed. You’ll follow American Red Cross safety and emergency guidelines, enforce pool rules with care and professionalism, and provide first aid or rescues when necessary. You’ll also help keep the pool running smoothly by checking water chemistry, inspecting the pool area before and after shifts, and making sure equipment is clean, organized, and in good condition.

Education and Qualifications
- American Red Cross CPR for the professional rescuer
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Training or equivalent
- Pass a preliminary CPR and lifeguard swimming skills test
Looking to fill the hours of 5:45am - 3pm in any capacity.
Shifts can be 4 or more hours.
Shift differential for opening shift only.
