Maintenance Technician 2 and CDL Driver
Department: Production Facility Bremerton
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Location: Bremerton
Shift: Varies- four ten-hour days
Compensation: $28.00 - $34.00 DOE

Why we need you and what you will be responsible for:
This position is primarily responsible for the day-to-day support of production and operations at SAFE Boats with a focus on transporting SAFE Boats products as a CDL driver and supporting projects related to facility maintenance and improvements. In addition to driving large vehicles, operates equipment on and off the shop floor, including cranes and lifts. This position works outside up to and beyond 50% of the time. Ability to work with little direction or support from others (based on the task).
What you would be doing/responsibilities:
- Safely transports large and small boats/ craft on trailers
- Operation of cranes, forklifts, scissor lifts, and other machinery
- Use power tools and hand tools for a variety of daily facility related tasks
- Load testing – including placement and use of chain binders, chain falls, load cell/dynameter, lifting swings, ratchet straps, winches, blocks
- Movement of items and equipment, trailers, palettes, carts, jigs, etc.
- Transport and load out of a variety of items including parts, equipment, furniture, building materials, etc.
- Helps coordinate facility related efforts such as loading of boats, load testing, sea trails with other departments in the organization
- Works with external resources and vendors to help coordinate movement and related logistics for boats
- Pro -actively identifies areas or equipment in need of attention, preventative maintenance, or repair
- General facility tasks such as painting, office/furniture moves, minor misc. repairs, hose repair, minor plumbing repair, etc.
- Performs minor electrical repair and maintenance on wall switches, outlets, sockets & ballasts
- Conducts administrative tasks such as maintaining logs, databases, checklists, and documents related to boat and equipment movement, equipment/tool/machine preventative maintenance, etc.
- Assists in the coordination of projects.
- Assists in the coordination of contractors and vendors
- Completes tasks within expected timelines with quality outcome/results
- Identifies additional resources as needed
- Utilize available time to maintain highest productivity level ensuring priority requirements are always met
- Perform other duties as assigned
Core Skills and Experience we are looking for:
- Must be a licensed CDL driver proficient in transporting equipment on trailers
- Ability to launch and retrieve large boats in and out of the water for sea trials
- Able to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
- Basic Math/tape measure reading skills
- Basic computer skills including Outlook and Word
- Must be able to work independently with follow-through to completion of tasks as well as on a team
- Must be able to effectively communicate with a variety of people, such as Managers, Team Members, guests, vendors, and customers.
Education and Required Experience:
- High School Diploma (GED/High School Equivalence Certificate)
- At least five years of experience operating large vehicles/trucks. 3 of which as a CDL driver
- Three years of experience launching and retrieving large (40 feet +) boats and towing large trailers
- Minimum of five years of experience operating equipment and machinery, including forklifts and scissor lifts
- Clean driving record and ability to be covered on company insurance
Physical Requirements:
- Position requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending,
climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to complete tasks
- Must be able to lift to 40 LBS without assistance
- Must be able to spend most of a workday outdoors in a variety of conditions (50% or more)
