About the Role
SDM Company is looking for a Field Service Lube Technician to perform routine lubrication and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment at client sites. You'll keep machines running smoothly by changing oils and filters, checking fluid levels, greasing critical components, and inspecting for wear and tear.
This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and solid communication skills to document your work and interact with customers and supervisors in the field.
What You'll Do
- Perform lubrication and maintenance: Apply grease and other lubricants to engines, wheel bearings, hydraulics, and other components.
- Conduct field services: Drive a service truck to customer locations and perform preventive maintenance (PM) on heavy equipment, trucks, and machinery.
- Inspect equipment: Identify wear, leaks, and potential safety concerns; check tires, brakes, and fluid levels.
- Perform fluid services: Change engine oil and filters; check and refill brake, transmission, coolant, and power steering fluids.
- Document and report: Maintain accurate service records, complete oil cards, and note parts, fluids, and materials used.
- Communicate with customers: Discuss findings, provide updates, and recommend additional services when needed.
- Maintain tools and cleanliness: Keep your service truck and work areas clean, safe, and organized; manage waste oil and site conditions.
What You Bring
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of vehicle systems.
- Ability to diagnose minor issues and recommend follow-up repairs.
- Physical stamina - frequent bending, lifting (up to 60 lbs), and working outdoors.
- Attention to detail in service accuracy and documentation.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid CDL driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in the field.
