Field Service Engineer (Semiconductor / PVD / Vacuum Systems) – San Jose, CA

Join a global leader in advanced thin film deposition technology (PVD) supporting cutting-edge semiconductor, HDD, and memory manufacturing.

We are hiring a Field Service Engineer in San Jose, CA to install, troubleshoot, and maintain high vacuum semiconductor equipment in customer cleanroom environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot PVD / vacuum semiconductor equipment
  • Support multi-chamber cluster tools & robotics systems
  • Perform equipment calibration, preventive maintenance (PM), and repairs
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and PLC/software issues
  • Document service activity and maintain accurate reports
  • Interface directly with customers and engineering teams (USA & Japan)
  • Support equipment installations and upgrades at customer sites

Required Qualifications

  • 1–2+ years Field Service Engineer / Semiconductor Technician experience
  • Hands-on experience with PVD, vacuum systems, or semiconductor equipment
  • Experience with cluster tools, robotics, and cleanroom environments
  • Ability to read electrical & mechanical schematics
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently after training

Preferred:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • PLC/software experience
  • Bilingual (Japanese/English) a plus

Additional Details

  • Travel: Up to 25% (domestic + international training)
  • Work environment: Semiconductor cleanroom
  • Physical requirements: Lift up to 50 lbs, extended standing/walking
  • Schedule: May include on-call or flexible shifts
