What is Hays House? Hays House is a critical part of the Idaho Youth Ranch family of programs. It is the only 24-hour shelter for homeless and runaway youth in the Treasure Valley and Idaho’s only Safe Place®. In addition to emergency shelter services, we also offer:
· Respite care to give primary caregivers much-needed relief and improve family stability
· Drop-in services so young people can stop in for a safe place to get a warm shower, a hot meal, and more
· Hays House gives kids a safe, supportive, caring, stable place to live while we help them find their way forward

As an Independent Living Specialist for the Hays House residential facility, you can proudly tell your family and friends that you help nurture hope, healing, and resilience in Idaho’s youth by coordinating the educational, career development, and independent living preparation programming. Every member of the IYR works to contribute to the Programs and Services in their own way to make them accessible to all youth who need those services in Idaho.
Must Haves:
o Must be 21 years of age
o Must have a valid Idaho driver’s license or obtain one within 15 days of hire
o Must possess High School diploma or equivalent
o Obtain when offered specialized training
Preferred:
· Bachelor’s degree in education, social science, health science or similar field
· Two years experience working with at-risk youth
Our Independent Living Specialists:
o Helping each youth develop clear educational and career goals
o Develops relationships with the local community for education/career/independent living opportunities
o Collaborates on the creation of Service Plans with other treatment team members, updates plans as needed
o Assists youth in preparation for their departure from the residential facility
As a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit, the Idaho Youth Ranch is a qualifying employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PLSF) program. The PLSF offers student loan forgiveness on qualifying loans under specific conditions. Speak with your loan provider for more information.
