Role Summary
\n
We are seeking an experienced Coatings Engineer to plan, coordinate, troubleshoot, and improve manufacturing processes within a coatings/paint manufacturing environment.
\n
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with paint machine operation, setup and programming, robot programming, automation, CAD/CAM, GD&T, tooling design, and Lean manufacturing concepts. The candidate should be comfortable working closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to improve process performance, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
\n

- Coordinate and support new program launches from design through production launch.
- Support equipment setup, programming, line layouts, capital equipment procurement, and operator training.
- Develop, troubleshoot, and continuously improve coatings/paint manufacturing processes.
- Identify root causes of process, equipment, and quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor and improve manufacturing metrics including scrap, rework, process capability, and overall production performance.
- Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Co-ops, customers, and suppliers as required.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, tooling documentation, work instructions, and operator instructions.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to product documentation and components.
- Support automation initiatives, including robot programming and logic implementation.
- Evaluate and improve manufacturing methods based on product design, materials, tooling, equipment capabilities, and quality standards.

Required Skills

- Strong manufacturing engineering experience
- Hands-on experience with paint/coatings manufacturing
- Experience with paint machine operation, setup, and programming
- Robot programming and automation experience
- CAD/CAM and GD&T
- Manufacturing tooling design
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality standards
- Ability to read blueprints and work instructions
- Ability to use micrometers, calipers, and Deltascopes for paint measurement
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
