Job Description

We are seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for each of two shifts at our client’s specialty steel manufacturing facility in Pittsburgh, PA.


This is an opportunity to create immediate impact with an organization under new ownership, mandating the rebuilding of a Total Predictive Maintenance program with the aim of achieving world-class facility status.


Essential functions include:

  • Ensuring adherence and understanding of safety, environmental, and QA policies and practices by employees and contractors
  • Day-to-day supervisory responsibilities for maintenance personnel
  • Preventive maintenance, and/or repair work assignments for equipment
  • Spare parts and repair material purchasing and inventory
  • Involvement with upgrades to plant infrastructure including roadways, power distribution, city water distribution, natural gas distribution, plant air distribution, and other projects
  • CapEx planning assistance via equipment data: recommending upgrades as needed with equipment failure history
  • Reading and interpreting technical specifications and blueprints
  • Establishing and enforcing first-class standards of housekeeping
  • Department personnel training
  • Root cause analysis to determine failures and implement corrective actions
  • Ensuring maintenance of facilities, equipment, and control systems to a high standard, such that quality products can be produced safely and cost-effectively


Education/Experience Requirements

  • High School Graduate - minimum
  • AS or BS in Engineering preferred
  • Training in all areas of electrical/mechanical testing and repairs
  • 5 years of "front line" supervisory experience in a line manufacturing role
  • Experience with stainless steel and specialty alloys desirable
  • Strong electrical experience in an industrial or steel related environment
  • Experience with high voltage distribution systems
  • PLC/Drives/Controls a plus
