- Duration: 6+ Months
- Hybrid - work from Roswell T, W (required), then M, TH, from home.
- 30 hours/week - may increase if needed
- Core hours: 9:00 AM–3:00 PM ET
- Ideal candidate will have that has a background in corrugated box design and has advanced skills in Artios Cad. If they have worked for International Paper, Westrock, or Pratt, this is a bonus.
Description
- An exciting opportunity has opened up to join Client's North America Packaging Team as a Packaging Engineer I. This is a pivotal role which touches every product Client take to market, working with your customers in category / platform management, you will be responsible for supporting the packaging development for new and existing products.
Criteria/Requirements
- To deliver innovative, cost effective packaging solutions to the Client business which minimize cost, add value to the customer and show strong progress on sustainability for Client and our stakeholders.
- To understand and strive continually to improve the capability of existing Client packaging and packaging equipment to better meet customer and end-user requirements
- To recommend and support packaging development programs that reduce distribution cost or damage, or provide competitive advantage
- To establish and maintain relationships with packaging suppliers to maintain an up to date knowledge of packaging and packaging equipment developments.
- To understand and communicate the impact and relevant detail of North American legislation
- Assist with and coordinate packaging testing in accordance with ISTA and ASTM test methods
Technical Knowledge
- Advanced experience in Cad and corrugated box design
- Ability to conceptualize test/experiments to generate relevant data
- Knowledge of and experience with industry standard test procedures for packaging materials and packages.
- Understand correlation of final art to package design
- Awareness of applicable packaging laws and regulations
- General understanding of material supplier's manufacturing process
- Knowledge of Client and customer distribution requirements.
- Knowledge of industry trends and procedures related to packaging materials and technologies.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor Degree in Packaging Science, Industrial Design or related discipline; 3 years of related experience are desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, prioritize and support projects on a self-directed basis.
- Demonstrated ability to perform in a team-oriented environment is essential.
- Expert level with TOPS palletization software required.
