Supervises: Gas Dock Supervisor, Sales Clerks, Store Cashiers, Parts

Assistant

Job Overview

Coordinating and conducting the daily operations of the Ship's Store, Gas Dock and

Parts Department as directed by the Operations Manager.

Authority

1) To hire and dismiss Department personnel with approval of Owner.

2) To purchase equipment for Department within financial boundaries.

3) To implement Department training programs within financial boundaries.

4) To maintain adequate inventory for the Ship's Store, Parts Department and Gas

Dock, adjusted seasonally, with Owner's approval.

5) To conduct periodic Employee Performance Reviews within Ship's Store/

Parts Department.

Responsibilities

1) Responsible for all Ship's Store, Parts Department and Gas Dock purchases,

displays, inventory controls, marketing and advertising.

2) Monitor sales trends and needs.

3) Track competitive pricing of marine goods in order to compete with catalog

buying.

4) Maintain inventory control system.

a) Prepare timely stock orders.

b) Conduct monthly and annual inventories.

5) Stock Management

a) Verify all incoming shipments with order and packing list.

b) Price and enter into inventory with stock numbers.

c) Rotate stock under first in, first out system when necessary

d) Maintain attractive and effective merchandising with special attention to seasonality.

e) Oversee the stock of bathroom and cleaning supplies.

f) Keep displays and counters clean and orderly.

6) Oversee and be responsible for the open and the close of the store each day.

a) Balance cash bank, drawer and sales tickets.

b) Prepare daily cash deposits and report.

7) Coordination of general housekeeping in store, storage and vending areas.

8) VHF base station radio operations.

9) Coordinate transient needs.

10) Know legal procedures for handling shoplifters and alcoholic beverage sales.

11) Knowledge of Marina rates, regulations and contract provisions.

12) Knowledge of “Implied Warrantee of Merchantability” laws.

13) Recommend any major changes in procedures that will improve efficiency.

14) Always deal with customers in a professional and courteous manner.

15) Promote and sell merchandise through conversation, assistance with customer problems and knowledge of marine mechanical/electric systems.

16) Know and understand documents and regulations set forth by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

  • a) Work with the King’s Cove Marina Safety Committee.
  • b) Assist in training employees on OSHA related regulations.
  • c) Train employees regarding personal protective equipment that
  • must be worn.
  • d) Establish safe work practices.
  • e) Assist in accident investigation in service area.

18) Implement procedures necessary to ensure a safe work environment.

19) Become familiar with NFPA 303 Manual.

20) Know location of fire fighting equipment and how to operate same.

21) Knowledge of and ability to perform emergency procedures for any type of incident that may occur.

22) Know and understand KCM Rules/Regulations and Policies/Procedures.

23) Facilitate employees knowing and understanding KCM Rules/Regulations and Policies/Procedures.

24) Prepare and present budget for all aspects of the department.

25) Facilitate cooperation between Boat Sales, Service and Ship’s Store in order to enhance accessory sales at time of a boat purchase.

26) Any other responsibilities/duties as assigned by the Owners or Marina Management.


Duties

1) Handle routine telephone communications.

2) Ensure complete customer satisfaction.

3) Maintain proper inventory levels, seasonally adjusted.

4) Keep informed on new products and innovative procedures used in marine applications.

5) To oversee special orders and returns.

6) To verify that all merchandise is received without overage, shortage or damage.

b) Marine products/merchandise and applications

f) Computer skills (Dockmaster software)
