Summary: Initially will be learning the label approval process and procedures to eventually be responsible for submitting all necessary labels to the USDA for approval. Will learn and assists with developing and maintaining product specifications for internal/production use and for customers. Work with and maintain ingredient and packaging specifications to ensure all raw materials (seasoning and packaging) received conform to those specifications. Subsequently will cross-train for multiple roles in the Quality Assurance, R& D and Food Safety Departments. In addition, will be involved in some capacity with training within the before mentioned departments. The QA Supervisor will be the deputy in charge when the QA Assistant Supervisor is not available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Reviews HACCP production sheets, signs daily and files in Food Safety File cabinet
  • Reviews and signs Meat Receiving Logs, Seasoning Logs and Packaging Logs daily for accuracy and completion and informs Rich of issues to be resolved with the paperwork. Files logs in Food Safety File cabinet.
  • Files all receiving papers and HACCP letters, Cattle under 30 months, Cattle over 30 months in manual.
  • Makes 2 copies of Returned product sheets for Maintenance to document in the RAF manual
  • Reviews other QA/HACCP forms, Tempering log, Quat Monitoring log, SRM sheets and files documents in Food Safety cabinet
  • Collects the results from the ATP Clean Trace machine to paper document and records the data on a file in the computer
  • Does Monthly Validation of operation of ATP Clean Trace machine by comparing to a "Positive control"
  • Assist QA Techs with all aspects of quality issues.
  • Monitors and records the temperatures of the Hand Wash sinks at the entrance areas of the plant
  • Monitors the storage cooler chart recorders for accuracy and for complying to Critical Limit for CCP
  • Initials the storage cooler chart recorders for verification of the HACCP plan
  • Does Operational SSOP monitoring 2 x daily and logs findings on the SSOP Operational Checklist
  • Monitor the Sanitizer strength of QA Techs Sanitizer bottles, Micro Stations, Cleaning room and Sanova stations.
  • Perform Pre-op inspection duties.
  • Perform the Cleaning program between shifts for Panda Express products
  • Assist with pre-shipment reviews, ensures that all data is accurate between the qa sampling program techs and the results received from the IEH lab.
  • Interacts with USDA inspector within the production room
  • Assist with Canadian exports
  • Will assist with the E.V program as SMI moves forward with the implementation of program.
  • Back up for labeling, sampling program.
  • Assists with set-up of metal detectors when needed.
  • Reports findings of Metal Foreign findings from QA Techs
  • Helps resolve quality issues as they occur on the production lines
  • Assists in pulling records and quality data as it relates to customer complaints/inquiries
  • Assist in Food Safety Micro sampling and Food Safety projects when needed in the Processing Are

Education and/or Experience

  • HACCP Certification
  • Servsafe Certification
  • ATP Training Certification

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • HACCP Certified (Preferred)

Other Skills and Abilities

Must be able to work well with others, have very good organization, presentation and communication skills. Must be able to complete tasks in a detailed & timely manner and under time constrains. Must be able to read, write and speak English at a high level, in which communicating with fellow workers, supervisors, inspectors, customers and other personnel so that it is clear, understandable and legible. Also must have very good phone skills to communicate to customers and suppliers.

Computer Skills

Must have good computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access.

Other Qualifications

A high level of math skills is required and the ability to use a calculator to determine percentages, averages, fractions is necessary. Must adhere to all quality and safety guidelines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is regularly exposed to moving vehicles (fork jeeps.) The employee is exposed to extreme cold temperatures in the plant and freezer. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
