Job Description
This role focuses on maintaining and repairing high-speed commercial printing press equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will perform both preventative and reactive maintenance on complex machinery, using your electrical and mechanical skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and safely. The position requires working with a variety of industrial systems and components to keep production running efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on high-speed printing presses and related production equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Carry out reactive maintenance and repairs on equipment and machinery within the plant when breakdowns or malfunctions occur.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including AC/DC controls, 3-phase motors, drive controls, conveyors, belts, bearings, and sensing devices.
- Work with photo and proximity sensing devices and encoders to ensure accurate machine operation and product quality.
- Use electrical and mechanical schematics to diagnose and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
- Use a multimeter and other diagnostic tools to identify electrical faults and verify proper operation of components.
- Interface with Siemens PLCs to check inputs and outputs for troubleshooting and diagnosis; no programming is required.
- Repair and rebuild mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics, to restore proper machine function.
- Perform conveyor maintenance, including inspection, adjustment, and replacement of components as needed.
- Follow established maintenance procedures and document work performed to support reliability and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with supervisors and other technicians on a small team to prioritize work orders and support production needs.
- Work safely around high-speed automated equipment, petroleum-based materials, and in confined spaces when required.
- Participate in training and skill development to progress through the pay-for-skills program and take on more advanced tasks over time.
- Maintain and progressively build your own tool set, including steel-toe footwear, in alignment with the facility’s tool list.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience with electrical troubleshooting and repair in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical troubleshooting and repair of production machinery.
- Proficiency performing preventative maintenance on industrial equipment.
- Ability to read and use electrical and mechanical schematics to troubleshoot issues.
- Ability to safely and effectively use a multimeter for electrical diagnosis.
- Working knowledge of PLCs, specifically checking inputs and outputs for troubleshooting (no programming required).
- Experience working with AC/DC controls and 3-phase electrical systems.
- Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics, including repair and system rebuilding.
- Experience with conveyor maintenance, including inspection, adjustment, and component replacement.
- Strong general mechanical aptitude and ability to repair and rebuild systems.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated ability to perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot issues independently.
- Ability to work safely around high-speed automated equipment, petroleum-based materials, and in confined spaces.
- Ability to work scheduled shifts, including potential overtime as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Siemens PLCs for monitoring and troubleshooting inputs and outputs.
- Welding experience is a plus.
- Experience working in a high-speed printing, packaging, or similar automated manufacturing environment is beneficial.
- Comfort working in loud, dusty, and occasionally dirty industrial settings.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with supervisors and a small maintenance team across multiple shifts.
- Willingness to progressively acquire and maintain your own tools according to a provided tool list.
- Ability to adapt to different shift schedules, including first shift and night shift options, depending on assignment.

Work Environment
The role is based in a commercial printing manufacturing facility that operates high-tech, high-speed automated printing presses. You will work around large industrial machinery, petroleum-based materials, and in some cases confined spaces, so safety awareness and adherence to procedures are essential. The environment can be loud, dusty, and occasionally dirty in certain areas, reflecting a typical heavy manufacturing setting. The position is located in Building 4, which is described as the newest and cleanest building, focused on long-run production with consistent work. Maintenance technicians work on small teams, with one supervisor and two to three technicians per shift, and the maintenance group supports multiple shifts across the facility. Shift options include first shift schedules such as Sunday–Tuesday with every other Wednesday, Thursday–Saturday with every other Wednesday, and a night schedule consisting of seven consecutive 12-hour shifts. Initial training takes place on first shift, typically 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the first week, and continues until you are fully trained and comfortable. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the regular rate after 40 hours. Technicians are expected to provide and build up their own tools over time, following a provided tool list, and must wear appropriate safety footwear such as steel-toe shoes or boots in the facility.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $32.00/hr.
