Job Description

We are currently assisting with relocation for certified John Deere technicians interested in field technician opportunities throughout our footprint!


As a John Deere Certified Field Mechanic, your more typical responsibilities will include:

  • Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on equipment and established products as requested by the Service Manager and Service Writer.
  • Prepares all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
  • Maintains condition of service truck, inventory, tools, and equipment.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
  • Complete dis-assembly and inspection, as efficiently as possible, so parts may be ordered and machine work can be scheduled promptly.
  • Maintain records and account for all time, parts, and supplies used in repairing and servicing both customer and dealership equipment.


As a Certified John Deere Field Mechanic, you will be working in the field (with occasional work required outside in varying weather conditions) to repair, conduct maintenance, and address any customer concerns or questions regarding our fleet of John Deere equipment onsite at customer locations.


Job Requirements Include:

  • Must be certified through John Deere as a Level 2 technician or above.
  • Experience working in a dealership that services John Deere equipment is required.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to be added to company vehicle insurance is required for field technicians.
  • Strong communication skills and exceptional motivation to provide the best customer experience is required.


o Physical Effort: Mechanics constantly work on machines in the shop; which requires physical demands on a daily basis. They must be able to move on/under machines to perform repairs and services. They often have to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly without assistance. There will be occasions where mechanics must operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes as well. They frequently stand for long periods of time and often kneel, bend, lay on their backs, etc. to perform repairs, services, and/or maintenance.


o Working Conditions: Mechanics are constantly working at customer sites to perform their tasks and duties. There is exposure to dirt, grease, fumes, cuts, bruises, strains, loud noises, etc. To combat these potential dangers and risk hazards. Mechanics must follow strict safety procedures, proper equipment safety, and PPE.


o Travel: Daily within certain radius of dealership and dispatched from home.
