Role Overview

As a MIG Welder I, you’ll use gas metal arc welding (GMAW) to join, fabricate, and repair steel components with precision equipment and established techniques.

Compensation & Shifts

• Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour, paid weekly
• 1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• 2nd Shift: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM ($1.00 shift differential)

A Day in the Life

You arrive, review prints, set up your welder, and verify measurements. Throughout your shift, you run clean, consistent MIG beads to assemble and repair steel parts, check your work for accuracy, and keep your area organized. You communicate clearly with teammates, operate material handling equipment as certified, and finish the day proud of the quality you produced.

Work with care, follow procedures, and use proper PPE in a busy industrial environment.

Welding Requirements:

Set up and run GMAW equipment to join, fabricate, and repair steel parts.

Quality and Accuracy:

Measure twice, weld once—maintain tight tolerances and consistent results.

General Duties:

Support shop operations, coordinate with teammates, and keep equipment and workspace in good order.

Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Relevant experience, apprenticeship, or vocational training preferred
• Able to pass and maintain MIG welder certification
• Strong attention to detail and basic critical-thinking ability
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes; maintain required equipment certifications
• Read and interpret simple blueprints
• Comfortable with hand tools: hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, drill, grinder, bander
• Use measuring tools: tape measures, box calipers, slide dial calipers, micrometers
• Convert fractions to decimals and metric to English
• Produce consistently high-quality work
• Set up and operate one or more processing machines
• Speak, write, and understand conversational English

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for long periods, including 2–5 miles per shift
• Repeated bending, sitting, standing, twisting, and stooping
• Lift/carry 25–50 lbs from floor to waist; front carry 25–50 lbs repeatedly per shift
• Reach overhead; squat, kneel, and climb short ladders or steps
• Good hand-finger coordination for precise manipulation of parts and tools
• Read labels, follow safety and standard operating procedures, and communicate effectively in an industrial setting
• 20/30 vision with corrective lenses
• Work may occur indoors and outdoors under varied environmental conditions
