SUMMARY:

The Quality Assurance Specialist Temporary (afternoon or midnight shift) is responsible for receiving, inspections, preparing gauging set-ups, assuring parts and product quality.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Trains personnel on how to perform in-process inspection of manufactured parts, assemblies, and finished goods.

Performs inspection on incoming goods.

Interprets engineering drawings and collaborates with Engineering Department, Quality Manager, Production/Engineering Liaison, and the Production Supervisors.

Prepares gauging set-ups for in-process inspections, including reviewing scheduled jobs on computer, and gathering prints, routing, man-hour and gauging sheets.

Instructs and directs Production CNC operators and set-up personnel regarding proper use of gauging and understanding of gauging sheets and prints.

Utilizes coordinate measuring machine.

Performs scheduled calibrations of all measuring equipment.

Oversees and ensures cleaning and proper storage of gauging.

Performs ISO support functions when needed.

Meets daily with Quality Manager and performs related duties as assigned.

Proactively offers suggestions for the improvement of a product, process, or practice.


REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Working knowledge of and ability to physically and safely operate a coordinate measuring machine.

Working knowledge of and ability to make practical application of manufacturing techniques and limitations, and machining.

Working knowledge of and ability to operate a computer and applicable software.

Working knowledge of and ability to operate a wide variety of inspection equipment.

Working knowledge of and ability to make practical application of OSHA and company safety procedures and precautions.

Ability to make simple arithmetic calculations and read and interpret detailed prints, sketches, layouts and specifications.

Ability to instruct and direct assigned personnel.

Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with other company personnel, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.

Ability to work alone and with others in a team environment with minimum supervision, and work on several tasks at the same time with frequent interruptions.

Ability to occasionally work extended hours and regular work hours.
