The Director of IT at Hennepin Arts (HA) is responsible for overseeing the direction, development, and execution of our IT Department. This position will be responsible for overseeing project implementation, manage daily operations, ensure network security, and leading IT teams to support Hennepin Arts’ theatres and administrative needs.
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for a seasoned and strategic Director of IT to lead Hennepin Arts’ information technology department. The ideal candidate will align the organization’s technology resources with its business objectives, ensure optimal IT operations, and drive the IT strategy forward.
Strategy & Leadership (25%)
- Develop and implement the IT department’s strategic goals and objectives, collaborating with the Chief Administrative Officer to align with the company's mission
- Provide leadership for the IT department, promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Represent IT initiatives to senior management, and other departments
Project Management (20%)
- Prioritize and manage a portfolio of IT projects, ensuring timely delivery and meeting business requirements
- Allocate and oversee IT resources, including staff, vendors, and budgets
- Effective and timely collaboration across the organization, providing excellent customer service
Infrastructure & Operations (20%)
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems, ensuring operational efficiency
- Develop and maintain an IT infrastructure that supports the company’s growth
- Establish, execute, and enforce IT policies and procedures, including those for security, disaster recovery, and quality assurance
Risk Management (10%)
- Identify potential risks and create response strategies to ensure the security and integrity of the company's data and IT systems
- Stay updated on IT trends, especially those related to cybersecurity
Team Development (10%)
- Recruit, train, and mentor IT staff, fostering a cohesive and high-performing team
- Evaluate team performance, providing feedback and facilitating professional growth
Vendor Management (10%)
- Manage relationships with IT vendors, contractors, and consultants
- Under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, negotiate and oversee contracts, ensuring cost-effectiveness and high-quality service
Budgeting & Cost Management (5%)
- Oversee the IT department budget, ensuring resources are used efficiently
- Implement cost-saving strategies without compromising service quality
Requirements:
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey IT concepts to non-IT professionals
- Excellent leadership, team building, and interpersonal skills
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field. Master's or MBA is a plus.
- A minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience in IT management, ideally with smaller organizations (less than 1,000 employees)
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience in managing IT projects related to infrastructure transitions, system integrations, and technology upgrades
- Solid understanding of IT budgeting and financial management, modern IT infrastructure, systems, and software practices
- Experience in CRM management, ideally Salesforce
