This role will start off as a temporary contract hourly position. We anticipate the duration lasting approximately 6 months, but may extend. The location is based in Lathrup Village, Michigan, and follows a hybrid work model, requiring in-office presence 3-5 days per week.

Please note: Due to the in-office requirement, we will only be considering candidates that are local to the Metro Detroit area at this time.

Detroit Labs is looking for Senior Backend Developers with experience in Microsoft technologies to join a high-performing Agile team in the banking/credit union space. This role focuses on designing and delivering scalable, end-to-end solutions across web and service layers that support critical business and member-facing applications. It will mostly focus on back end development, but at times may include some full stack work. You will work closely and collaboratively with existing development teams and the business to deliver innovative new features that will improve member experience, and increase the efficiency and effectiveness of associates and team members.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience developing Backend and/or Full stack software professionally
  • Proficiency developing Backend software in the Microsoft ecosystem using .NET Core, C#, ASP.NET, and Entity Framework
  • Front-end experience with Razor, Blazor, or modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular, React) is a plus
  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript in the context of enterprise web development.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., xUnit, Selenium, Resharper)
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps pipelines and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins, TFS, Sonar)
  • Familiarity with SQL Server or other relational databases
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments with an emphasis on continuous improvement

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain back-end services and APIs using .NET Core, C#, and Entity Framework.
  • Build responsive, modern web applications using ASP.NET MVC, Razor, Blazor, and JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g., Angular or React)
  • Develop and consume RESTful and SOAP services, ensuring high performance and reliability
  • Apply software architecture principles such as Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Object-Oriented Design (OOD), and multi-layered architectures
  • Leverage Agile Software Craftsmanship practices: Test-Driven Development (TDD), continuous integration, automated testing, and refactoring
  • Implement and support CI/CD pipelines and other DevOps practices using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, SonarQube, etc
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to gather requirements, design technical solutions, and deliver high-quality software
  • Participate in code reviews, team learning sessions, and architecture discussions
  • Work a hybrid work schedule, coming into the Lathrup Village office 3-5 days per week
