The Heritage Center & Horizons Rehabilitation is hiring a Beautician. Our Beautician provides professional hair care and grooming services to residents in accordance with facility policies, safety standards, and individual preferences. This role enhances residents’

dignity, comfort, and wellbeing by delivering quality salon services, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and fostering positive, respectful interactions with residents, families, and staff. The Beautician supports the facility’s mission by promoting a pleasant, person centered

experience for all residents receiving salon services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide hair care and grooming services to residents, including shampooing, cutting, styling, setting, and basic nail care as permitted by licensure.
  • Consult with residents to understand preferences and ensure satisfaction with services.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized salon environment in compliance with state regulations and facility policies.
  • Follow all infection control, safety, and sanitation procedures, including proper cleaning of tools and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided and submit required documentation to the facility.
  • Manage salon supplies, notify administration when inventory needs replenishing, and ensure cost effective use of products.
  • Communicate professionally with residents, families, and staff to support a positive experience.
  • Adapt services to meet the needs of residents with physical or cognitive impairments.
  • Uphold resident rights, privacy, and dignity at all times.
  • Participate in facility orientation or inservice training as requested.
  • Promote a positive image of the facility and contribute to a welcoming, personcentered
  • environment.
  • Perform other duties related to salon services as assigned by facility administration.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a state approved cosmetology program.
  • Current cosmetology license in the State of Indiana.
  • Knowledge of proper sanitation, infection control, and safety procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with older adults, including those with cognitive or physical limitations.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies (up to 25 lbs.).
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Adequate vision and hearing to safely perform salon services.

Experience and Skills:

  • Prior experience as a beautician, preferably in a longterm care or healthcare setting.
  • Ability to perform a variety of hair care and grooming services, including cutting, styling, shampooing, and basic nail care.
  • Ability to manage scheduling, maintain supplies, and organize work efficiently.
  • Demonstrated patience, compassion, and professionalism when working with residents.
  • Ability to maintain accurate service records and follow facility procedures.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently.
