Job Description

Help Shape Data-Driven Solutions with Impact

We're hiring a skilled Database Engineer (DBE) to support end-to-end database development—from translating raw requirements into usable schema to deploying secure, scalable database systems. If you're passionate about cloud technologies, open-source databases like MongoDB or MariaDB, and working in agile, mission-driven environments, this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and build relational or object-oriented databases tailored to evolving system requirements.
  • Develop database parser and loading tools to support efficient data storage, retrieval, and analysis.
  • Support both near-term and long-range goals for database design, architecture, and administration.
  • Balance performance factors like data volumes, user loads, response times, retention rules, and security controls to guide architectural decisions.
  • Lead database efforts across the development lifecycle—from early requirements through system acceptance and Initial Operational Capability (IOC).
  • Translate project needs into structured database schema using ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros.
  • Apply cloud methodologies for data storage and retrieval.

What You’ll Bring

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (required)
  • Education and experience combinations:
  • Bachelor’s + 5 years of relevant experience
  • Associate’s + 7 years
  • High School/GED + 9 years
  • Master’s + 3 years
  • Doctoral + 2 years
  • Degree in English, Journalism, or Technical Writing is preferred—but any discipline is acceptable.
  • Hands-on experience with MongoDB or MariaDB
  • Proven skills in:
  • Database deployment, management, and optimization debugging
  • Performance scaling and monitoring

Bonus Points for Experience With:

  • Python, Django, or Flask
  • REST API development
  • Microservice architectures
  • Swagger/OpenAPI
  • AWS, C2S, or other cloud platforms
  • Docker
  • IDEs like Visual Studio Code
  • JSON and/or XML serialization
  • Jira, Confluence
  • Git for version control
  • Agile development workflows
