The Role
As part of the Fort Worth plant leadership team, with a mission to identify areas for continuous improvement, cost reduction, and performance enhancement, we have an opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Manager to join our team in Fort Worth, Texas. You will be responsible for developing, validating, and leading the Plant’s Continuous Improvement Program. You will play a critical role proactively identifying areas for improvement and the solutions needed to enhance our competitiveness and profitability, aligning the program to the Operational Excellence Roadmap.
What you get to do:
- Set direction. You will lead the Plant’s Continuous Improvement Program, ensuring it aligns with the Operational Excellence Roadmap as part of the strategic planning for the site in conjunction with the company as a whole. You will align CI initiatives with the site's key performance indicators, and lead focused efforts aimed at breakthrough and incremental improvements in process, department and/or line-specific opportunities that meet and exceed plant operational performance metrics SQCDPE.
- Champion. You will utilize lean methodologies and tools to promote the extraction of dollars in play. You will identify where CI Systems are required to optimize manufacturing or transactional processes and design and implement the solution ensuring each system is scalable and sustainable.
- Collaborate. You will work directly with the Senior Plant Manager and their teams to plan, set in motion, and oversee specific CI projects to drive the lowest possible operational cost. You will provide technical processing expertise to support yield improvement activities.
- Build and execute a Continuous Improvement program. You will lead and manage value stream mapping activity for the site; and a comprehensive pipeline of improvement activities. You will ensure continuity of critical continuous improvement systems for each project and each value stream, for example, Kaizen, 5S, Visual Factory.
- Measure and report. You will track CI progress and report to the business on a predetermined frequency. You will demonstrate and track key metrics of improvements in each activity, ensure the sustainability of projects, and report on the financial impact of cost savings opportunities.
- Drive results. You will work with the company following the Lean/Six Sigma Framework as well as the framework for driving excellence in Maintenance ("Maintenance Excellence Program"). You will:
- Balance prioritization to optimize results across the Operational Framework SQCDPE.
- Leverage benchmarks to identify objectives.
- Ensure sharing and standardization of best practices.
- Work closely with the engineering and processing teams to drive efficiency and yields in processing and packaging operations.
- Propose and implement new methods and processes for existing production systems, i.e., Probat DMS, MS AX, Powerplant, control systems.
- Inspire and influence. You will lead, develop and coordinate continuous improvement transformation plans for plant management and supervisors, including charter development and implementation plans. You will lead cross-functional teams to resolve projects, guide data-driven decision-making, and provide technical problem-solving advice to internal clients and technology partners.
- Coach and mentor. You will coach and mentor the plant team from managers to operators using various lean six sigma tools, concepts, and practices to ensure the sustainment of culture transformation. You will foster a proactive and lean culture transformation from the plant floor through to plant management.
What you bring to the role:
- The education and experience. You may have a degree or diploma in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical), Operations Research, or Engineering Management. You have certification in Continuous Improvement and a Six Sigma Black Belt (preferred). You have applied your theoretical knowledge over the last five years working in manufacturing or production, ideally in a cross-functional environment focused on Industrial cost control, reporting and analysis, safety, and efficiency. You have 2+ years leading continuous improvement implementation with a demonstrated ability to effectively implement Continuous Improvement Programs resulting in positive change.
- The interpersonal skills. You can lead and coach cross functional teams at any level from the plant floor to senior leadership. You have the ability to influence and inspire people to execute and engage with the continuous improvement plan and projects you oversee. Your communication skills are exceptional, and you can build strong relationships with everyone you work with. You are willing to start or end work earlier or later to meet with different shifts, teams, and managers.
- The logic. You have outstanding critical thinking skills. You are solution-oriented and approach problems like an engineer. You have experience with industry-standard problem-solving methodologies (LSS, DMAIC).
- The project management. You have proven success identifying CI opportunities and you have experience planning, resourcing, executing, and evaluating projects end-to-end. PMP certification would be an asset.
- The technical understanding. You have advanced-level MS Office (primarily Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and data manipulation and visualization skills. You have experience with Power BI, Minitab, Sigma XL, NWA and are able to extract data from SQL database to analyze in SPC software.
