The Maintenance Technician supports a leading beverage manufacturing facility by maintaining, servicing, and repairing plant and production equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Based in Hendersonville, North Carolina, this role performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots mechanical and electrical issues, and helps uphold strict food safety and quality standards in a modern, high-volume production environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, service, and repair mechanical equipment, production machinery, and related components to ensure reliable operation.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to perform maintenance and repair tasks.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment, as well as building systems, to minimize downtime.
- Conduct periodic equipment inspections as part of preventive maintenance programs and evaluate incoming requests for repair.
- Identify parts and materials needed for maintenance and repairs and initiate orders as necessary.
- Monitor the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment to ensure optimal performance and product quality.
- Ensure all work complies with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Schedule and coordinate installation support and service operations to align with production needs.
- Complete all tasks in accordance with established safety procedures and guidelines.
- Maintain equipment manuals, complete work orders and inspection reports, and accurately document work hours and maintenance activities.
- Take accountability for food safety, food quality, and regulatory requirements associated with the role.
- Promptly notify management of any actual or potential food safety issues and participate in resolving them.
- Adopt, follow, and maintain all SQF (Safe Quality Food) requirements relevant to the position.
- Work collaboratively with supervision to address and resolve food safety and food quality issues within the scope of responsibility.
- Perform other related maintenance duties as required and assigned to support overall plant operations.
Essential Skills
- Troubleshooting skills in an industrial or manufacturing maintenance environment.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience working with industrial machinery and equipment.
- Knowledge of pneumatics and pneumatic systems used in manufacturing.
- Knowledge of electrical systems from 120 VAC up to 480 VAC.
- Experience with preventive maintenance practices and programs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and work from electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills to document work and collaborate with team members.
- Understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) in a production setting.
- Awareness of food safety principles and practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with quality control and quality assurance concepts, including QC testing and food quality checks.
- Basic understanding of microbiology, HACCP, and food science as they relate to food manufacturing.
- Experience in quality inspection and adherence to batch records in a production environment.
- Ability to perform industrial repairs on production equipment and supporting systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as an Industrial or Manufacturing Maintenance Technician.
- Background in the food or beverage industry, manufacturing, or medical/pharmaceutical environments.
- Experience working with pumps, gearboxes, valves, and conveyor systems.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical and pneumatic systems specific to maintenance technician roles.
- Experience working with electrical systems up to 480 VAC, with flexibility to consider candidates with slightly less voltage experience.
- Exposure to repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining automated equipment.
- Familiarity with hydraulics in an industrial setting, even though it is not a primary requirement for this role.
- Knowledge of viscosity, food quality parameters, and batch record documentation in food manufacturing.
- Experience working in a structured quality assurance environment with strong focus on regulatory compliance.
- Comfort working in a GMP-regulated facility with strict hygiene and safety standards.

Work Environment
This role operates in a clean food manufacturing facility that follows strict GMP and food safety standards. The position supports 2nd shift (approximately 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.) and 3rd shift (approximately 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.), with shift differentials for off-shift work. The plant environment can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter, reflecting typical conditions in a production setting. Team members work with production machinery, mechanical and electrical systems, and automated equipment while adhering to rigorous safety and hygiene practices. Personal protective equipment is required, including safety glasses, steel-toe footwear, and hair and beard nets. Depending on the area of the plant, additional PPE and coverage may be required. Jewelry, including piercings and hanging jewelry, is not permitted in the facility to maintain product safety. Nail polish is allowed, provided no artificial press-on nails are worn. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.
