IT Assistant
Overview
The Highlander Research and Education Center seeks a part-time, 20-hours-a-week IT Assistant (internally titled Technology Assistant) to support the Technology Manager in maintaining a consistent and reliable IT infrastructure, providing technical assistance, and ensuring digital security for Highlander's staff and guests. This role is crucial in supporting both on-site and off-site operations, troubleshooting technical issues, and contributing to the overall efficiency of Highlander's technological resources.
In a typical week, you can expect to:

Diagnose and resolve common IT issues related to email and account access, internet connectivity, video conferencing, software updates, and minor malfunctions.

Guide end-users on software installation, configuration, and basic computer usage.

Assist with setting up account access and providing tech orientation to new staff on commonly used software tools.

Track and manage inventory of laptops and other devices.

Document solutions for recurring problems in a shared knowledge base.
To be successful in this role, you need to have:

1–2 years of experience in a help desk, tech support, or IT assistant role.

Technical proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Asana, and other common remote collaboration platforms.

Basic troubleshooting skills on Windows and/or Mac operating systems.

Clear and compassionate communication to explain technical issues in simple, accessible language to individuals with varying levels of tech familiarity.

Strong organizational skills to manage multiple support requests at once while maintaining accurate documentation and follow-ups.
Compensation & Benefits
