Are you a mechanically inclined, customer-focused professional who enjoys designing innovative solutions for advanced equipment?

Handtmann Inc., a global leader in advanced food processing equipment, is seeking a Field Engineer to join our dynamic team. You'll partner with sales and technical teams to evaluate potential new / ongoing HCS (Handtman Custom Solutions) and HLS (Handtmann Line Solution) Projects, supporting existing on-site HCS equipment, and new HCS/HCL installations.

This is more than a service role — it’s an opportunity to innovate and become a trusted technical expert with a highly respected company that invests in your success.

If you are hands-on, solutions driven, and thrive in a travel-based role supporting cutting edge equipment, we want to hear from you!

What You’ll Do:

  • Support HCS sales efforts through on-site assessments, including collecting project requirements, taking plant/machine measurements, and preparing detailed summary reports
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop solutions, generate quotes, and create conceptual 2D layouts (AutoCAD LT or similar)
  • Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting for customers and internal teams across current and legacy HCS projects
  • Lead and coordinate line solution installations, including project management, subcontractor coordination, and cross-functional communication
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including operating instructions and technical materials
  • Deliver technical training to service technicians, applications teams, and customers
  • Identify and escalate product design or production issues to the Project Manager
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Handtmann product offerings and technologies
  • Travel to customer sites to provide on-site support and ensure successful project execution

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with at least 5 years of experience with industrial machinery, or equivalent combination education and experience
  • Hands on electro/mechanical troubleshooting experience (e.g., can drill/tap holes, cut metal, welding, soldering, wiring, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Intermediate PC skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to travel domestically 50–75% with a basic toolkit (up to 50lbs)

Why Handtmann:

  • Family-owned company with a global reach and 150+ years of industry excellence
  • Supportive, high-integrity culture that values innovation and initiative
  • Mentorship, stability, and career development in a niche market
  • A robust compensation and benefits package designed to reward your expertise and support your success including:
  • Base Salary: starting at $105K base salary (hourly with guaranteed 40 hrs/week)
  • Automobile Stipend: $8,060/year ($310 per bi-weekly pay period)
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Up to $3,500/year
  • Tire Reimbursement: Up to $3,000/year for 2 sets
  • Travel Expenses: Covered via company credit card (includes gas)
  • Health Insurance: 100% company-paid premiums
  • Retirement Plan: 4% 401(k) match
