Job DescriptionLegal Assistant
We are looking to hire an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Assistant / Paralegal to join our mid-sized, defense-focused law firm. We have offices in Lake Success and Brooklyn, and this role may work from either location as needed. In this position, you will support our attorneys with case management, document preparation, client communication, and day-to-day administrative tasks. I am seeking someone who has previous experience in a law firm environment and can step into a busy practice with confidence.
Salary Range
$55,000 to $65,000 annually, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist our attorneys by preparing legal documents, correspondence, and case materials
- Manage and organize case files, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Communicate with clients to gather information and provide case updates
- Prepare, file, and track legal documents with courts and administrative agencies
- Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorney review
- Maintain office organization and handle general administrative responsibilities
- Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate deadlines
- Use legal software for case management and document production
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in legal studies, paralegal work, or a related field
- Prior experience as a legal assistant or paralegal in a law firm
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and case workflows
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common legal software
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in case management and document preparation
